Quote from: Seany;387680Ahh, shame you won't be here, this car was your choice doh!

Best time I could do was a 1:19:177. that was in the Default set.

I just could not get on with that setup Neys, best I could do was a 1:21:xx,  Tons of understeer! :)  Also, I noticed engine limiter is on 96%, accident perhaps?

Ah - I just checked, somehow I have errorneously uploaded the wrong set; looks like a wrong car, maybe the cobra ?!? This one should work better (check that the downforce is 0/0):

Don't ask me why, but the good news of a bad day is that I'll be there on Monday :-/

Yes, yes it's the big scary turbo F1 car...and on Monaco of all places...OMG seany what are you thinking :norty:?  Heh heh, actually it's not that bad.  It's much easier round here then on a fast track as you can run a lot of down force.  I was considering Monza or something but it's too frustrating.  Monaco is actually pretty addictive, give it a chance :) .

The Turbo is at it's worst for the first 1 lap.  When the tires get up to temp it surprisingly grippy.  To stop the sudden oversteer caused by the turbo in the first 2 gears, just "short shift", where you change up through gears much sooner than you would normally, this way you never give the turbo a chance to spool up.  Once you get to 3rd/ 4th gear you can go full RPM.

Notes about the car: This car has adjustable turbo boost, which is set by the keys 1 to 0 (1 =10% boost - 0 =100% boost).  Running too high boost will cause engine damage. You can get around this by using the engine limiter in Setup options and by using a lower boost.  The max Boost/Limiter you can run and not get damage is 70% Boost and 99% engine limiter.  This is as far as I am aware at the moment anyway.

I have attached a Setup that I find usable.   It has 99% engine limiter set, you'll have to set the boost to 70% when you get in the car though as this defaults to 60% and is not stored by the setup file!

My best time is a 1:33:473 :racing:

This. Is. Amazingly. Quick.

Interesting Combo ....

I gave...I even tryed the track with slower cars but I cannot understand how this can be used for racing. I never have. The constant gear changing up and down is annoying. Top racing cars became too fast for this track already in late 1920s or 1930s latest.

The track itself is quite nicely done, but the best vehicle for this track is controlled by pedalling :sideways:

Its a brutal combo ..... I need more steering lock on the hairpin :P

The car massively out powers the track but the sensation of speed and acceleration makes me smile every lap :woot2:
It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shakes, the shakes become a warning. It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion

bloody hell thats a hard combo......full wing front and back and i still cant keep it between the lines...only got a 1:37 as well. Soz to ney btw...that pit exit is narrow and on exiting it just nudged the barrier  and flew into ney that was going full pelt down the track...soz about that (racing incident perhaps :D )

No need to say sorry - we both died at this accident :D -- naah not a problem. This car is too fast for this narrow track; I'm wondering how the formula 1 guys survive there...

ha ha wusses... :narnar:

You don't have to use all the throttle ya know :D

Forget about PBs (in fact, turn all time info off), take your time and just enjoy doing some laps while getting used it! :racing:

If you take a step back and look at how cool it is we can drive this (amazingly detailed) car on this iconic track, it's pretty damn impressive.  Well I think so anyway :flirty:

edit...
Ahem.. Michele Alboreto did the fastest lap in the 1985 Monaco Grand Prix with a time of 1:22:637  ...just thought you guys would like to know

Deetz

WOW that's just  I N T E N S E.

Thanks to your set Seamy, I was able to knock big chunks of time off. 1:32:741 Still bouncing off the walls, and I'm sure there is loads to come. Just not sure if I've got the balls to find it.

As for 1:22:637, never ever ever ever......

Mental

Nice time Deetz :).  I wonder if in the real race in '85 they adjusted the turbo "on the fly"?  I think they may have done.  Still, ten seconds is a hell of a lot!  The track may be a little bit different now too, I just tried to search the google web for some information on the evolution of the track, surprisingly not much there :g: .

can you post your set seany as i cant get one that works

Sure Sulks, ya can get it at the bottom of the Combo post thing:

I attached it as a .zp down the bottom there.

Remember to stick the boost up to 70%!

Deetz

You say go stick the boost up (to 70%), but I took another 1/3 sec off my time with the Boost at 60%.

This crazy thing called TRACTION. At 60% it's ALMOST manageable, 70% feels like your always trying to rip the carcase off the tyres.

Having said that I did go quicker again with it back up at 70%, but that was with the stars aligned, a huge huge dollop of luck in T1, and probably cutting the chicane as far as allowed before it penalises you. Not deliberate, just (Heart in mouth) OMG I made it! phew.
Guess I'd better just shut up.

Nah, it's a fair point, I have been sticking it to 70% just cause I know that's the max the car can take for a race, I never tried any lower (not round Monaco anyway).  I will have to try 60% and see how that goes.
