Sadley i didn't have a class 1 beam on my ship at the time.
The biggest down side to it is that it is a fixed weapon, and for anything bigger than a viper its a pain to use, fair enough if you have an asp, that has a decent amount of guns, and is only medium, but it just "looks" a bit weak". If we were to make a "screaming Eagles" wing and go out and have some jollies, it might be different..
The question is
"Would you prefer to cook your target, and  deep fried in the void, or simply blast him out of the void and be done with it?" ... only testing will let us know.

Fly safe out there.

If you want to go check it out- head to the Home system of our beloved leader, you can only buy faction stuff there. Same for the other factions too.

Its the music from Titanic that got me mate. He's sitting outside the station after the event watching the letter box rotate to the sound of that bloody song lol! Very funny.

Well about a month ago i decided (foolishly) that i'd take a "short jaunt over to Sagittarius A*" ... yees.. jaunt.. yep.. short- NO!

Now all we have to do it to navigate out of the most densely populated area of the galaxy to an area that will allow me to make a 1000ly plot.. as currently is limited to 130ish LY due to the density of the surrounding galaxies. As it just stalls the pc client!

I have other images on my photobucket page for your browsing http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j55/Ranualf1/Exploration/Screenshot_0099_zpsuzgwb0wt.png

Fly safe and plot a 28000 ly course home!

I enjoyed looking through your collection. So what happens your PC struggles to calculate a longer flight path?

It's the core of the galaxy, and as such there millions of stars out there, all wanting your attention!

What this means for you is a real pain for plotting long distance jumps (500ly+) and the pc just goes on a "i`m thinking about this"mode...and the nav computer stalls and just very slowly ticks ... ticks... ticks..so make 300ly or less plots, and you will have to wait for it to do the math!
How to get round it- make very short jumps- of 130ly or less!

I got lucky and managed to plot a 530ly jump into SagA* but getting out was a real pain in the asp.. 130ly bunny hops until about 1000ly out of SagA*!
Best way to escape SagA* is to go either go 1k ly up/down but not straight left/right.. as the clusters are so tightly packed!

I'm currently 21k ly out of sol which is about 700 jumps at 33ly in the Asp, as you can't travel straight (as you know).

Is it worth it?

Just for going out there and seeing it (taking pics ofc) it is well worth it! But monetary wise, yep as it will either put you straight to Elite or very close!

According to the Zulu (who found SagA* 1st) he made about 157 million Cr off his trip in December last year. After 1.2.7 they upped the exploration data values about 70%?
I figure i have at least 150 million of data thus far, if not more.. so its well worth it. But when you compare that to trading its only a few serious days of trading at 8 million per hour with ease.

A word of warning it is tough going, and is a test of wills to make it that far out! It will not be a quick trip out, unless you speed scan the system, scoop and jump, not bothering to explore any of the planets in the systems you find.
It has taken me roughly 2.5 weeks of 5+ hours a day to get there, but i've been wandering about, exploring stuff..
A speed run will take 15 - 20 hours if you know exactly what you are doing (to get there) so a round trip will be at least 30-40 hours, minimum. Put into perspective, that is 5 hours per day, for 8 days.

Advice-

Take at least 1 AMU (auto maintenance unit)
Carry at least 1 heat sink, pref 2 as its a LOONG way out, and no reloads!
Get the biggest fuel scoop you can- i have a b6 on the Asp and it does the trick (+21m CR for a class A6!)
You will get sick of traveling 100,000 LS to scan stuff.. so you need to be picky- ignore rocks (crap value) as 10 rock planets are the same value as 1 Jovian, basically.
If you target is over 2000 LS, ignore it, unless water/ Earth like (money) or a high value star.
Never jump out of a fuel star with less than 50% tank, as you may to travel several jumps for the next one (min i got to was 20% but i have a +8 tone fuel tank).
