And I go away on holiday on the 25th God Dammit !

Lots of catching up on my return !

Seems like we've been offered a full or partial wipe as options and the majority are calling for a full wipe again which FD will gladly accept. There has been a request for a higher starting wallet to get people moving into the game quicker. That would be good.

latest news:Hi everyone,

The servers will be going down at 19:30 GMT in order for us to import the latest build. It will take a minimum of two hours for the updates to be put in place, but Beta 3.00 will be with you shortly.

The update has all the features we’d previously teased as well as hundreds of other smaller, equally important, updates.

The dev team haven’t stopped working since the previous update, that’s why they’ve been able to come up with an update as big as this one. You can see the full list of changes below.

Please keep in mind that we expect a similar release process to that of 2.0. There may be some issues at first, but we will be able to iron them out with your continued testing and support (just like last time). There will be further, smaller, updates in the coming days if and when new issues are identified.

EDIT:
UPDATE: The server team has spotted an issue with the build. We're looking into a fix right now, but there might be a small delay in the arrival of 3.00. We will let you know as soon as we have more information, and an ETA.

NO MORE BOBBLEHEADS - Can you believe that?

albert

I bet they sell the bobble head later on!
Had a go today. 9.1m CR still all mine. Spent a cool 6.5 mill on a Cobra totally buffed.
Advanced Discovery Scanner 1.6m
B level power plant
A level FSD
B level power distribution
2x 16 cargo
B level beam laser
B level multi cannon
Mining laser
D level refinery
Surface scanner no idea what it's doing it was that or the refuel module

Point Cannons are bugged, don't!

You get the gist!

Literally torn out of frame shift several time on a collision course with my perpetrator! Killed them every time with the epic beam laser!

Mining was fun. Almost totally black system: Hera. At one of the Hera Rings. Monster rock bleeding Indium. You need your lights on or will poo yourself how close you end up! Apparently FA off and constant strafing picks up the minerals easily. Never tried it because I was just avoiding the darn big rock!

New ship costs the same as the old Anaconda which now costs 49 mill!

Altogether a very enjoyable first go and no updates as yet and Zero crashes on Solo.

Had a quick go this afternoon. Something's not quite right with the mouse pointer on menus when TrackIR is being used. Before, menus wouldn't move with head movement - now they do which means the mouse pointer moves too making point and click on menus weird.

Yes you're right, it's a well known issue and they'll probably stop free look from being active during menus in station services.

Also Escape to tab back from inside the station menus takes you to the Options windows and not backwards into the game first. Another issue.

I think there are a few people who have complained about the ship outlet crashing their game. Also it's not possible to sell point cannons once bought because you can't select them to click sell although apparently if you know where they are on your ship any component on the ship can be selected by physically clicking on that part.

I got 5000CR for simply appearing in a system and did a scan and found 37 new galactic objects, I scanned about 20 of them and got another 5K, a bit unbalanced.

Reddit has a good bugs topic going, easier to use than the forums:

-   Fix for crash when unable to lock vertex buffer for line rendering
-   Add debugging to help find missing asteroid chunks
-   Fix hardcoded '9000' energy per unit mass which should be '90000', and is causing fuel to run our really quickly
-   New time formatter added that shows time as 16h 32min rather than 16:32 - resolves ambiguity in situations where the number doesn't rapidly change
-   Added new layers for alpha deferred emissive support â€" stops some cockpit items sorting incorrectly
-   Fixed render sorting issues with emissive materials rendering behind deferred elements
-   Alt-tabbing game fixed
-   Game starting on wrong monitor fixed
-   Mouse not working on multi-monitor fixed
-   Ensure we send the ROUTE letter to all the servers we connect to, not just the first â€" fixes missing NPC’s in session
-   Protect against failing to get the launch bay interface when saving
-   Fix the ship preview failing to darken when the pause menu is displayed on top of it
-   Server now refreshes its mission information when a client connects, meaning that returning to a server before it has forgotten about you will not leave stale data there
-   Clamp Wear-and-Tear values to a sensible range

Additional server-side updates have been implemented over the last 24 hours:

-   Fixed issue with fines being awarded but unpayable. Newly issued fines should now be payable in any space station allied with the same issuing Major Faction (Alliance, Federation, or Empire)
-   Existing unpayable fines will be made payable shortly.
-   Allow hardpoints to contain enough ammunition for the point defence turrets
-   Number of reliability and performance improvements
- Stopped fines being generated when a reward is given on completing a mission

Beta 3.04 being deployed now (just got thrown off the server).

-   Reduce disconnect output for better tracking
-   Additional telemetry for character mismatch issues
-   Reduce replication telemetry
-   Reduce debug output for authority transfers
-   When acknowledging replications, don't queue a backlog, instead send the most recent one once
-   Re-instate packet flow control regulation
-   Correctly rank a machine against other machines after its sent its first parcel in a frame
-   Apply network bandwidth limits in all versions of the game
-   Improved method for tracking server disconnects
-   Remove replication output when there's a targeted ship, especially bad if there's a ship being given a bad day by a space station
-   Don’t send new object letters more than once for the same event
-   Remove unneeded output when going live on a server
-   Send server telemetry early if we're getting excessive load, so the load-balancing can stop sending us new players
-   Enhanced network performance telemetry
-   Better network letter compression
-   Ignore an incoming start server request if the server hasn't finished initialising
-   If the receiver of an authority transfer causes the object to die immediately (eg its too far from the object) then clear down the authority transfer attempt

Beta 3.05 was launched on Monday. Changelog:

• Further optimisations to network traffic when players enter/leave islands.
• Fixes for some of the reasons that server connections were being dropped.
• Extra diagnostics to help in tracking down the remaining networking issues.
• Various crashes fixed, none of these tied directly to any specific action performed in game but overall stability should be improved.

Sadly no stuttering fix which I experienced with a quick play test today :(

albert

I'm finding the stuttering getting gradually less frequent but it's certainly a long way from gone. I think there were some useful additions and improvements though. For example, the control options actually tell you which function you are unmapping as you choose to setup controls rather then finding out when it's most needed. The Fastest Route option in the Galaxy map shows the best route from A-B in yellow now which is pretty nice, try charting a long trip and watch the computer calculate the path, it's fun to see. I hope they keep putting out patches right up to the premier to fix this stuff.

Half ways down, wipe tomorrow at beta 3.9 rollout. Then again on Saturday. Seems there will be a mass battle at Freeport to celebrate the wipe again.
