Making money from crates?

Anyone got some information about actually being able to make some cash selling the crates in game, or if anyone has tried it?
Asking for a friend ;-)

Or maybe a good link to something that explains it half decently?

get crates & chuck em on the marketplace = money.

or take a chance to open it, hope you don't get the same baseball cap you already have 5 times, put whatever else it is on the marketplace = money.

I think I have the grand total of about £9 from selling bits, but if you play enough & chose wisely you could probably make a bit (which is why there used to be so many bots I guess)

I made about £22 selling the Gamescom cases early on. The weekly grates go for a lot less now but you still get more selling them than their contents. You could get lucky and get something valuable but its not that likely.

It is however only steam money and not cold hard cash. I used some of mine to get the Steam Link a few weeks ago and some random games my kids wanted.

If you want to sell things you need to setup the Steam Guard and then wait 7 days (I think)
