Abberation

With Oldie and Whitey's help (thx), we are going to set up a vanilla Aberration server in lieu of The Island which will shortly be backed up and archived (see separate thread).

This vanilla server is new to all of us.

PLEASE

I feel (and others mentioned) that the experience was a little marred on Ragnarok due to people researching the map beforehand, looking for base locations and general 'insider trading' from YouTube.

It would be great if we played Abby the way it should be.... by exploration. As far as I'm aware we're all in the same boat with minimal knowledge of the map and it would be great to keep external stuff out of it as much as possible. Do not go onto YouTube for locations, try to avoid getting secrets online, avoid looking at the map and let's make it purely adventurous.

Obviously the wiki is there to help with specifics on how to tame certain creatures and we'll need to use that but let's make this explore, camp, explore further, camp and find stuff hermetically.

I know I can't force this and I can't stop anyone spinning up a single player server and flying around the map in god mode if they so want but it would be nice to think we're in accord on this.

MIGRATION

Sithy asked if we could migrate characters in a similar way to The Island and Raggy. I have no problem with this but would like us to land nekkid and alone. I.e. No transfer of dinos or resources.

However, migration is HARD and nothing like current so I would suggest we just get everyone to start a new character then I'll give them the matching levels as a one off

When i logged off last night I was in the to floor of our house but when I logged in this morning I was under the map in water and couldn't move.  I died and have lost all my stuff  I re-spawned at the house and can't see any green light beem to locate where it had spawned/killed me.

Sorry to hear that, Whitey. Some bugs (falling through the world) have never been fixed, it seems. I always log off on either solid ground or on a stone foundation placed on solid ground. Sleeping on a bed is a recent good option too.

This sounds like the problems I had on ragnarok breeding sheep. The lambs would almost always fall through the floor. Even if bred on solid rock outside they would still clip through and be unreachable. Just had to keep going until eventually it didn't happen. Looked it up and yep, quite a common problem.

I guess the short version of this is whitey, what have you been doing with the sheep?
