ARK: Extinction

I'm enjoying it but, to be fair, it's the gaming together as a group that I've missed. ARK provides that whilst I wait for SC.

Yeah, I'm playing it differently and staying put at the community base with everyone else.

The problem with going out and finding personal bases is that you then spend ages building a base and feeding your dinos instead of going out and doing the group thing.

Now we have the terminals we can keep everything together, build group outposts and just travel around to where we need to go keeping the dinos central and aim for the Drop Pod defense and the Titan battles.

I'll try to not get too attached to my Dinos and cull the weak.

What are we going to do about the Tek replicator issue?  Extinction requires one to make some of the new engrams (eg. Cryopod) and you can't get the engram for the tek replicator in Extinction!   They expect you to transfer your character between servers so you gain the engram on The Island and transfer to Extinction and build it.  

My suggestions are either:  Fire up Ragnarok and allow us to transfer our character to Extinction once we hit a certain level (think it was 70 on Aberration?) or just unlock the engram for replicator for everyone.  The second option would require us to farm drop pods for the Replicator blueprint which may or may not work according to posts on the subject.

If you open up Raggy you also open the option to allow transfer of dinos. Is there a downside to that?

I'd go with the level 70 then allow migration myself.

I will get onto the server in the next couple of days now that work has eased off a little.

You can't transfer dinos to Extinction but you can move them from it.

TBH I really cant be bothered with the grind to 70, just so i can get my lvl 83 over from Raggy. I would suggest it doesn't matter what level someone is, if they want their character from raggy let them have it, they've already done the grinding why make them do it again!!!

 Id say lower it to 30, so they have at least had to do some of the stuff in extinction

I'd love my character for the unlocked engrams and already-grinded-for levels, but I think just getting the tek replicator so that we don't have to back and forth would be better anyway regardless of fetching the characters... Besides, we're supposed to have a source of element on Extinction that isn't boss fights, except it was destroying bases.. ?

I can see both sides of this arguement tbh. We will definitely allow migration of characters - we have to in order for the game to function as designed i.e. for cross Ark-travel. If someone doesn't want to bring their character over then that too is fine. I'm happy to gift them the relevant engrams so long as they've been previously learned or unlocked elsewhere.

At which level is the kicker. I only started playing yeserday and in two hours of just general playing got to lvl 40 so the early grind just isn't a grind.

We've all done the serious grind and we've done it several times. I've taken two characters to lvl 100 and it's a totally ball-ache.

Upshot is that I'd rather have people playing on the server with a migrated character (or boosted character) allowed from a lower level than have people not playing but it needs to be a compromise.

Need to ask our northern brethren to spin up the server so you can transfer but certainly doable.
