It's like Borderlands meets PUBG with a dash of Overwatch thrown in for good measure.

And...

It's free!

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

Yep. Let's talk micro-transactions.

So far there are 8 Legends (characters). Two of them are locked out. You can use in-game currency to unlock, or (of course) purchase them with £££. It costs 12,000 per Legend (IIRC) and in one night of gameplay I earnt more than 4,000. Can't remember the exact number.

All other unlocks are cosmetic only, from what I can tell. You get loot boxes for levelling up, each containing 3 cosmetics of varying 'quality'.

For now, with an investment of £0 you can play the game and should find yourself at no disadvantage at all, which is great. The locked out Legends are different, but not better.

The gun-play is fast and fluid, and the game seems relatively well polished and complete (which I find refreshing). My main concern is with only 1 map and 8 characters, I'm not sure how long it will hold my interest. Still, at £0, perhaps that isn't such a deal-breaker.

When I first saw the game, I was underwhelmed and thought to ignore it. For some reason I decided otherwise, and I'm glad I did. My scepticism was misplaced on this one. Definitely worth a go!

Aside from it's an arena shooter vs a battle royale, you just described Quake Arena :D

I'd say it's more Fortnite then PUBG given it's free, cosmetic microtransactions system, and those redeploys. But without the building mechanic which I think puts a lot of traditional (older) FPS fans off.

Chaosphere

Yep, that's perhaps a more apt comparison. Have to say I really enjoyed it last night and am looking forward to playing some more when I finish work.

Given that it's free I'd really encourage people to give it a go, more fun than you might think!

I have downloaded it (especially as it's free), I gave black out a try when it came out and quickly knew it wasn't for me but will give this a try even though I don't think it's for me either, but nonetheless will see.

Not sure if its been said, but I like that its found a niche by combining the hero/skill+ultimate gameplay of Overwatch and the Battleroyale fun of Fortnite minus the building mechanics.
Also I love that it's a "more traditional" FPS, with gunplay that feels nostalgic and snappy and fun.

Nice one Milli. I'll be around tonight after work (which I hope to leave on time today!), so online by about 2130-2145 if all goes well. :yahoo:

After watching some videos there are also elements I'd recognise from PUBG. Particularly the weapon upgrades and looting. Fortnite is pretty simple in comparison.

Ok I bit, I'll be about as dreadful at this as I was at Overwatch.

Absolutely. Looting and gear quality is a big part of the game. Much like PUBG there are high risk high reward areas, or you can choose to try and find somewhere a bit quieter to start with but risk ending up with inferior gear when it counts.

The abilities are also key, and like Overwatch you should aim to build a squad whose members synergise well together. There are one or two abilities that I think need a bit of a balance tweak, but overall the game plays well and these unique traits add a nice twist and (IMO) an additional strategic consideration.

It's fast paced, and the ability to revive your team mates (either pick up when downed like PUBG, or full revive as long as you pick up their 'banner' in time) is great. If you play it well, it can mean less time sitting in spectate. Some may not like this revival element, preferring the one life only style, but for me I enjoy it. It's another strategic risk. You're at risk when collecting the banner, and again when calling in the revive (it's very visible).

Really enjoying this one.

I’m really enjoying it, the elements they have added to a BR game is genius, the whole revive / recover with the banner collection, being able to ping loot, enemy and pretty much everything just encourages teamwork so much. It plays so so smooth.
