Gamefest 2011- NEC Birmingham

So I went to RWM intially and was planning to go to this today however instead I nipped in on Thursday although it was a press/ internal game invite only.

So much for the security on the door!

Anyway, not alot there and for £10 unless it was better today was way too steep.

Got to speak to some great contacts about our community and about how they make games.

Can tell you all more at the LAN if you want to know.

It was a console festival and wasn't aimed at PC at all but had console ports of what we will play on PC.

Big games to mention that I saw were:

• Batman arkham city- no real real changes and simply looks like more of the same. The price tag for this game which to be honest looks like 40 hours of dlc content is silly but oh well. There is no multiplayer which is a shame apart from the same scoreboards as before with no LAN support.
• BF3- no mention of LAN support from the DICE employee I spoke to and multiplayer action looked good had a long session on the xbox version and the graphics were great can't wait to see the final content.
• MW3- Developer refused to comment on dedicated servers and LAN support. I explained our situation and that we needed some sort of LAN support he joked: "Well we only make games for consoles, thats our main market. Schoolkids who buy our games are easy money". Enough said and its a definate wait and see game!

There were many others few with LAN support or multiplayer the shift is towards singleplayer.

I was expecting more but oh well!

did you see the old republic stand,waited in the que for a while but got to play the first 2 lvls, very wowish but with a star wars feel

I went on Friday, quite impressed by the presentation on F1 2011, if what they've said they sorted out they have sorted then the game should be really nice, liked 2010 alot but 2011 should be a whole lot better if it's not all just bs & the game is what they say it is.

Went today, it was....ok, everything went wrong every time I Q'ed up for something. 2 Damn hours for both skyrim and Resident evil and resident evil crashed on me games good though . There was nothing to buy other than the game store near the top but why go there to buy games I can go back home and get them. Needs to be slightly bigger with more stuff to do other than waiting in Q our getting bothered by people who want to play next. Dont know if I will go next year we will see.
