We have suffered from lag for a fair while now and we are pleased to announce that the situation should be resolved within the next month.

The lag problems have been confirmed as routing issues with the providers who peer with Modern World Internet (the company who have taken over from Crosswired following Stryker's departure).  MWI are currently unable to resolve this peering problem.

So this is what is going to happen to solve the problem:
  • BlackAdder will be pulled from the MWI rack and sent to a new provider by the end of November.
  • The new provider will host our hardware in Redbus (London).  This is a premiere facility and the quality of our connectivity should therefore be *awesome*.
  • The forums and website will be moved from BlackAdder onto a different box.  This will avoid the 'single point of failure' we recently suffered.
  • The new provider is an ADSL provider and if members choose to use their services you should be pretty much assured of an absolutely stunning ping when playing on the dMw servers.
We know you have really suffered on the lag front over the past few months and appreciate your ongoing support of the dMw Community.  We hope that the plans announced today will move us forward into a new and low ping, lag-free era.

Nice one.

What costs are involved and how much do you want us to cough up?

Don't mind paying for quality ;)

Sorry to hear about Crosswired/Stryker :(  Thanks to them for all their support over the years

The only time the lag really bothered me is when Duvel's on the opposition, because I know he's happily running round shooting us all while were lagged out. But seriously, nice to know there will be lag free gaming once again with dmw, I can hardly bring myself to play on publics anymore, far to many idiots around.

For all those looking for an ADSL provider:

Wait until you know who we are hosting the server with - if you pick the same company as your ISP then you minimise the number of hops needed to connect to the dMw servers and your pings should be great.  More info to follow once the details are finalised.

Just for info, I will be attempting to migrate my ADSL to the new hosting company......
