Slight conflict of information here.

MY bois shows a CPU temperature of 63C under normal load, SiSoft Sandra 05 shows 61C and Motherboard Monitor 5 shows only 48C ?

Any idea which one I should believe and is 63 (god knows what it is when playing HL2!?) too hot? I've got a reasonably good fan which is an Akasa AK-827 Cooler

The odd thing is that the heatsink is quite cool to the touch, which may be irrelevant?

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

If it is cool to touch then I would run with MM5.  You'd feel the heat if it were 63.

Any reason why the bios and SiSoft Sandra should be so far out?

personally i'd go with the bios readout !
it knows best

but to be sure, see if theres any bios updates out for the mobo, and if there is see what the bios update corrects or add, you never know it could be a dodgy senser

im running a p4 3.06gig cpu and my temps are 25-34 max on air, both bios and asus probe says the same so im fine & happy, just a shame about the noise !!!

oh btw forgot to say sisoft sandra mite be reading the wrong temp probe, where the bios will most prob be reading the correct 1
