Counter-Strike 1.6 / Removeing servers fro fav's
January 15, 2004, 11:45:00 PM
Hmm that’s odd as that file is the server list as such once removed they should be gone

Did you close steam delete the file then restart steam, oh well maybe it was fixed with this update. Sorry mate no idea why it didn’t work… sigh… steam the never ending beta <_<

Counter-Strike 1.6 / Awesome ak skin
January 15, 2004, 05:36:51 PM
Just tried it out, very nice indeed  8)

Played it prior to steam, so I haven’t tried the latest version.

It was ok for a bit of mindless fun, but teamwork was damn near none existent.

Some interesting aspects such as the diving, rolling and slow-mo stuff apart from that pretty much just a frag fest, was ok for wasting a bit of time, but nothing special IMO.

Counter-Strike 1.6 / Removeing servers fro fav's
January 15, 2004, 03:53:59 PM
It seems to be happening to everyone since the last steam update <_< .

Found a solution, of sorts, on the steam forums, but if you follow the instructions below make sure to note down the ip addresses of the favourites you want to keep, as when you start steam you’ll have no favourites listed.

Close steam.

Go into C:/Program files/Steam/config and find the file called serverbrowser.vdf rename this file then launch steam.

When you go into your favourites list there should be nothing listed, re-add the servers that you want.

It may not be the best solution but if you’ve got a lot of servers in your favourites you want to remove it works  :)

TCS General Discussion / Excessive Wall Spamming
January 10, 2004, 02:27:57 PM
So basically it seems to boil down to someone laying covering fire on a position i.e. house window in Italy, to allow teammates to get into position is fine. Spotting or indeed hearing an enemy on the other side of, say again the doors on Aztec, and letting one or two controlled bursts at said position is fine, but trying to carve a piece of fine furniture out of the doors with your carbine/ak is not. If that’s the case it seems fairly simple to understand and easy to follow, if I’m wrong feel free to correct me most people do.

I personally think the biggest problem with door/wall spamming has got to be the distraction it causes to your team. Say on Aztec you have CT’s covering the bridge site, the double doors and people covering the water. Whenever you hear gunfire you immediately think that’s where the action is and wait for a call for backup. Now with shot bursts or the odd round fired that’s fine situation over you stay where you are, but if you hear constant fire of clip after clip you think it’s something more and if there is no call people may end up going to see if the situation requires backup leaving part of the map weakly defended if at all, which doesn’t help the team.

It could be suggested that unless it’s part of the plan, i.e. covering fire, only shoot what you can see (on the condition what you see isn’t on your team  )

Thanks for the welcome guys.

Well I got the password, joined the server, and had an excellent game. It feels good to be playing the game as it's meant to be played :D I think you'll be seeing a bit more of me in the future.

Hello, I'm New Here...... / Hi all
January 07, 2004, 09:23:17 PM
Hello everybody, I played on the servers quite a bit in the past, but about six months ago cs and me parted company for a bit when I began playing dod. Still playing dod but have recently started playing cs again and thought I would come and see if dMw were still going.

Well I’ve sent me Steam ID and am just awaiting the password, and then I should be seeing you around on the servers (I hope).

Btw re-read all the rules and couldn’t any mention of them, but do you still have map dependent boundaries for the teams or is it just taken for granted if you’re working as a team you know where you should be and don’t need them?

Counter Strike 1.5 / My Comms Not Working
May 05, 2003, 10:43:37 AM
I had a similar problem with XP and solved it as follows.
Open the master volume control, from the task bar, and under master volume select advanced. There should be an option to "Center speaker and subwoofer connected to microphone" check this and then uncheck it. Now open run voicetweak.exe to test.
