Technology Section / System Scanner, Evaluator, Repair
December 23, 2014, 06:35:12 PM
Hey Folks!

Its been sometime since I last posted on DMW, mostly due to being extremely busy.

I was wondering if anyone has recommendations for a System Scanner, Evaluator and repair program that ideally is free/opensource.

Regards

So after 7 years of faithful service my Television is beginning to die its death, with several of the speaker nodes (i call them nodes) having blown, and a few dead pixels ive decided to replace it!

Currently using a 27inch Sony TV (really good quality for its age) with my 27 Inch Dell Ultrasharp, and I would like to now query the technical minds of Dead Men Walking on a decent Television (27 Inch maybe a tad more due to space but 27 mostly due to uniformity) to replace my aging Sony.

Price range - between 250 - 400, less is obviously welcome also
requirements - HDMI port for Xbox 360 (cant use a PC monitor due to 480pi resolution for dashboard etc)
PC Input due to using it for watching Iplayer etc
and the usual standard ports of course :)

Dont really want a smart telly unless its decent quality but anything is worth a suggestion :)

Thanks in advance anyone who replies.

aye ive seen them on youtube etc, the detail and graphics are excellent, only downside is you would need a proper rig like ours (DMW community) to get best out of it etc

Seriously though ... / UV Blind & a Venue

its part of streetpassuk.co.uk, we are essentially the leeds branch of the gamer group hoping to set our initial meet up (numbers expected between 10 - 20 tops) and some younger children and there parents plus teens will be coming along so for future occurances we need to find a venue that does sundays from say 11 onwards.

Its essentially gonna be a bunch of people sat around playing on 3DS consoles heh :)

Hi all,

Vladic here not posted in a fair while, hope all is well and murderous in the DMW universe!

Right to business, I am currently looking for a UV proof blind to purchase for my bookcase as it is faceing my window and as some will know, once the UV rays hit white books they start to turn yellow, with these being collectables for myself id prefer to prevent such changes :) so any advice for that would be excellent, ive tryed places such as Ikea, argos, Home base etc the places most local/easy to access.

The second piece of business is a venue im looking to aquire in leeds for an event at the end of september for roughly 15 people ufortunatly many are either unwilling to take children or are not open early enough so anyone down that way who may have a theory as to a possibly venue in the city centre would be excellent :)

Thanks

Xbox Live, Xbox 360 / Xbox one

Ill most likely be getting one, dont get me wrong im a PC gamer for a number of things, RTS, MMO, MMORPG etc but for games such as halo (i love the idea of a series), AC, Arcade fighters such as Dragon Ball Raging Blast etc, I do prefer a console, not only that but im sure the distance from my screen doesnt do my eye's any harm either :)

In regards to the reveal though I do agree that games should have been more focused upon and even demonstrated even a simple Demo would have been excellent, this could again as said, be being reserved for E3, where I also hope we will finally see the PS4 in physical presence as in the PS4 reveal it was the only aspect I didnt enjoy.

I know the location and travel/accomodation, unfortunatly the date for the event itself is proving illusive, at current i work part time so booking the time off is required, im attempting to locate the date for the event as we speak with little success.

Hi All,

As the title states im looking for information regarding the UK/London premier for "The Lone Ranger" as I am currently ment to be attending this with my other half, obviously this requires planning/booking off work etc so if anyone London based etc has any information that would be grand.

Thanks

I have several friends who live in Rural area's or have bad connections that can drop occasionally or be triggered by external situations, an "Always On" verification system would in all likely hood put them off purchasing the next Gen consoles, why pay for a piece of equipment that you can only use say 75 to 50% of the time if an issue occurs.

If this statement is true though it could bring more people to the PC gaming market, as whilst some require online login to play such as Steam or Starcraft 2, in the event of Net connection loss the game can continue to be played offline or the service still used to launch games (steam).
