Quote from: Mikep1212;435776buy it on steam and refund it before 2 hours, if necessary.

Everyone has different rigs and different standards of acceptable optimisation.

If a game drops below 20FPS, glitches and can't load textures on a "youtubers" rig with a i9 + 1080ti then i'm not gonna think it's playing well on a "real dMw members" rig (no offence).

Here's another video, from a well known youtuber (massive fallout fan) with amazing gear:

Who is this idiot?  This guy is the reason half my friends wont got to the states. He is not doing the majority of his countrymen any favours.
Shouting through the mic "tell your Mom to shut the f%$k up" ???  Really? And you actually take notice of him?
I expect that if his rig is running FO76 at 20fps, its probably struggling to cope with his enormous mouth and even bigger ego as my i7 + 1060 doesnt run anywhere near that slow.

Anyways, that aside, the game hasnt been perfect since i paid full price plus beta early doors  but overall its behaved and ive enjoyed it. Some things could be better, some things are better so i guess it just depends what you want or expect.
Its nice to see a landscape that isnt trashed completly. Its nice to occasionly run with mates as a team and its nice to explore a new fallout world. its nice to be somewhere familiar allthough different. Its abit like holidays, we want to see all these different places and cultures but inside.... we still hope we can get a good bacon sarnie and a good tea.

I find it cool that the only people you see are real and i dont miss npc's at all. If you are wandering alone it does actually feel like you are the only one left, success.
On the other hand, i help and have been helped by other unknown humans which restores a little faith in humanity. Success. I have also been needlessy killed by humans that probably dont 'get' the game, typical. You only have to watch our loud American friend from the video to know the sorts i mean.  If it was RL, you would have to shoot him to shut him up before the scorched come, lol.

The only downside of this game for me is the building stuff. Its similar again but abit more fiddly and the build limits are still low. But then, if everyone is building small towns, how would it all work? I guess that the loud bloke above has never programed anything and just expects things to work how he wants them too. Yes, there should of been a PTT button but is it really worth fireing f*&ks into someones mother over the comms? Did he mention it only took a couple of weeks and that was sorted in an update? Fixed.

Lastly, i loved the comment "It's fairly easily available for under a tenner these days" like its old, lol. November 11th i believe, thats not quite 3 months :roflmao:

For a tenner, i would say its definitly worth a look. Obviously i cant say how the updates and new content will go but like the lottery, you gotta be in it to win it.

Have fun,

Hi Seany. Cheers for the Assetto gen'. I think you've pretty much  confirmed what I was thinking. It is a shame to see LFS dwindle away as ive had a lot of fun on there but I guess everything changes sooner or later.

So, ive still got abit of stuff to do on the 'LX4' but she wont be long I hope (its been dragging on now) and I'm still a slave to the MotoGP. As its Silverstone at the start of September, I cant see me getting any real racing or a racepit made till after then but when I do, i'll be sure to seek you guys out. If Assetto comes up on steam before, i'll grab it anyway.

I'll get a few pic's of the Striker for you when I get on the laptop abit later on.

Laterz, S.

Hey Guys, hows it going?  Its been a while :)
I see a few names are still here, fair play to ya. Since I moved house a few years back, I havnt had the time or space for racing or even a pooter that can keep up these days but times are a changing. I sold my race pit (for those that remember it) as it was just gathering dust and taking up space but now I have a shiny new gaming pc I realise how much I miss a good race, lol.
Ive also restored my very own LX4 (Sylva Stiker) in Kawasaki green of coarse, which took a long time even for me. Now its almost finished I'm thinking of building a motion sim race pit to start racing again. Still, enough of my waffle.....

Whats this Assetto Corsa like, any good? Ive been looking online and it keeps coming up in "top 5" or "top 10" lists of driving games but I worry they are made up by the console kiddies. I'm not after carbon, nitrus buttons followed by blurry scenery, just something abit more up to date than LFS, i.e, something with good physics. Do you recommend it or is there something better that isn't IRacing? Or is LFS with the S3 worth sticking with?

Cheers,
Slider.

I find that i keep over revving some of the road cars due to them not sounding like they have revved enough yet. My fault and i do get used to it over the week but i have been thinking about an external shift light for quite a while. The lfs one is to small and not bright enough for my liking, if its there at all. You can buy some little led jobbies which they are quite cool but were about £60 if i remember correctly.

Whilst looking into making one i found this for Android phones. Its free, it took about a minite to change a few numbers in the lfs cfg file and it worked instantly on my galaxy s. It looks quite cool to. Very simple and handy if you have an andriod.:D

and here it is in action (not mine)

In digital display mode, the whole screen turns to a red background at the limit. Ive only had it working on the laptop with replays but i shall try it on the racepit tonight.

Well done Bob on breaking your winners duck, :yahoo:

I remember thinking i have to get off the line well or Lame and Sean will dissapear. Well after a pretty good start i was right there with them for the first few laps trying not to get in the way really by abit of feathering. My plan was to sit with them in third until something happened or i'd sussed it out. Unfortunatey my feather turned into a sail plane and i lost the tow.
Luckily there was a gap behind me by then but i was just wandering round on my own stuffing the friut pastilles in at the rate of one a lap. This couldnt go on so i eased up abit and waited for Laprevotte who then obliged by playing the towing game, cheers Yann. I think to be honest, he would of been faster without me, lol

Anyway, Sean seemed to be using more fuel than i was pastilles and got me into calculating that i could take a good 10% off the refuel. This i stupidly tried to adjust on the inroad for the pit and then missed the limit line,. Its not too bad i though as its only a drivethrough penalty. I refueled and nailed it out of my box only to realise i still hadnt put the limiter on and 75mph cost me a 10second  stop and go.... Game over, lol.
From there i just turned right some more and felt ill due to too many friuty sweets.

Well done to all that made it round, and unlucky to those that didnt. Twas fun.

Penfold ol' chap. I do think its a little unfair to quote my first post as it was obviously in jest (ive never ridden in Moscow :narnar:). Also i do state previous that i wasnt agreeing with this fellows riding. What i have been saying in a somewhat sarcastic roundabout way is that i dissagree with some comments made against him. I'll make this my last post on the matter and abit more direct.

There is an attitude, and i wont be told otherwise, from the MAJORITY of car users that anyone on two wheels is a danger and a hooligan no matter how fast they go.

I 'make progress' on my bike but i havnt had an accident since i was 17. Im not slow and i dont sit in traffic but can i be that  'lucky' for 26 years? No. (oh, and ive also taught traffic cops) Im also one of the few people i know with a clean license and its been that way for 20 years. I do know for a fact that the view is much better, i do knowfor a fact that experience and attention will allow you to see what others are going to do in time to react and i do know that fast riding doesnt mean you will die or kill anyone else by the fact that im still alive and so is every other person ive overtaken.
This is why i posted in the first place, or rather the second post. Not to condone this guy but the threads overal response followed the usual uneducated response from folks who dont ride or cant ride confidently and safely at speed. Some people can and most cant. My experience tells me whats goin on here, your experience is a video that isnt half as bad as it seems.

As an example from memory as ive not watched it again, the guy does cross a pedestrain crossing. The camera makes it look bad as you tend to think, 'jesus, that was a crossing he just shot over and every one has stopped there, he could of mown someone down' but in reality, he can see over the cars at any pedestians that may be about and we cant see if the lights have changed or not. They may still be red but we dont know that, yet it is still viewed as bad and the biker gets another cross against him.
Just a Smile's police dude points out there are some dodgy bits, there are also alot of bits that you will view as bad when they arent. As he also says, the camera makes it look alot faster than it is.
The last few min's of the vid looks like he is filtering very fast in slow moving traffic. That bike will do almost 90mph in first gear. He is not even reaching half revs before he shuts the throttle and gets on the brakes so probably no faster that 40mph. Lets call it 50mph. A touch quick really but not life threatening by the time he has reacted and slowed down before he hits something. Considering the bike will do 0-60 in under 2.5 secs from standing, he has the option of accelerating into clear areas as well as braking when things dont go his way. Again, its not as bad as doing 50 in a 30 limit in a car that takes four times longer to stop past a school is it?

My defense of this guy is against the 'i wish he was dead' or ' i would punch him through the window' attitude as its unfair yet usual from MOST car drivers who simply dont have the experience to understand what they are seeing. Especialy when they approve and indulge in in the multitude of dangerous attention grabbing devices that are part of a modern car and fail to use the saftey devices like mirrors and indicators or even look.
How many times have you heard "oh i wouldnt pass my car test if i had to do it again"?  Try asking your friends without bias and see how many say they wouldnt pass.  Well if they cant drive to the DSA standard then they shouldnt be driving at all and maybe they should be banned along with this guy?
To sum up.... pot, kettle, black?:g:

Thanks Snokio for taking the time to find the car vid' but it wasnt needed for my point. I do think thats alot worse than the bike though, lol.

Benny.... :roflmao:

I'll shut up now.
Right, im off to use my dsa qualifications to teach some couriers how to be tarmac terrorist :norty:

I knew i was throwing myself to the lions, lol.
Im not trying to turn this into a car-bike debate, i mearly point out that idiotic and extremely dangerous things are done by car drivers every time i go out on the road (on two or four wheels, or sometime even eighteen). With that in mind, i do not wish those drivers dead! I do not wish them to be a smear on the road and you will probably find that most riders are organ doners wether they ride like that or not.

The view from a bike is alot different to that camera. With experience one knows exactly when car drivers are or are not paying attention and where they are going 99% of the time.  I say this as someone who has been riding for  *cough* 40yrs and on the road 27 years. I am also a DSA qualified instructor and an advanced rider. The skill and calculation in this guys riding is extremly good.
If it was not safe to ride on the wrong side of a double white line or filter through traffic or speed then the police would not be allowed to do it. The fact is, that with the right skills and attention, it is pretty safe.
Yes, someone could change lanes but they could do that if he was just sat there at 70mph. The difference then is only he is killed by someone elses lack of attention.

So, i ask why this guy deserves to be a dead smear on the road when the car driver  looking in his mirror to shave on the way to work mows down a kid at 50mph in a 30 coz he's late, doesnt?
There is no difference BUT, from inside the box, there will always be that attitude towards bikes.

Im not saying our Rusky fellow is right, but his calculated ride is not as bad as it appears and the lack of attention from most other road users will cause more accidents and endanger life more than this guy will. :narnar:

.....more lions please.....:D
