Pulling 20+ people from the hotel for 3 night stays sounds like a serious revenue killer though... There is no way that they could recoup that surely... They gotta be making £200-250 per person easily... so they are going to lose 4-5k just from those 20 people. We are unique clientele that not only rent the rooms, but also eat tons of food and drink copious amounts of alcohol... Normal clientele just wouldn't be doing this. I just cant understand how the hotel cannot be benefiting from us being there (even in 20) and I really cant see the point of view that they are doing us a favour. I work with hotel owners in my job and they would all see the benefits of 20 food eating, beer drinking, non-leaving, 3-day hotel clientele. The only thing they really loose is the quality of their wifi for other guests, which in March i really cant see being a massive issue.

This is a BIG BIG shame :sad:, especially as 5 of us from my group missed out list time and were looking forwards to coming this time. How far away are we from the "desired" number of attendees? I have 2-3 people who have been considering coming for years... im sure i can sell them into it to make up the numbers... im sure i am not the only person who could do that also. I also know Jay very well, who has attended before and I am sure i can convince him. Would be great to have an opportunity at least to save this LAN. :taz:

Oh NO! Late October... I booked a trip to New York in late October (same weekend) anticipating that the LAN would be in early October... Massive boo...

Unfortunately peeps this will be the first LAN I am going to have to miss since LAN XV... i had a 6 streak going... Sad times

Quick suggestion, I think the game would be better if we played with no limit betting and set the minimum bet to the size of the big blind. This is standard for normal tournament rules and will speed the game up alot. We will then get awesome things like all in's and bluffing. Just an idea!

Sounds awesome! Poker is a great idea! Just to know what to prepare for... are we going for £5, £10, £20, £50 or car keys? Well up for this! Myself and the Norwich and Bexley crews will be attempting to arrive as early on Thursday as possible... should be good!

Regarding food... I gonna have to wait until the date... unlike Sheldon (BBT) I dont tend to plan my meals weeks in advance lol (apart from steak night obv:roflmao:). See you guys on 2 weeks!

Final answer... who knows! :taz:

I have to say... I really missed them at this LAN! I would pay extra for multiple packs. They were a great mid-beer, mid-drunk, mid-gaming snack!

Personally, I like the idea of an extended Sunday, given we are all already there and have paid for the saturday night; it would cost no more and we already have the room setup anyways. I could stay on a sunday until 8PM and effectively this would give me a further 8-9 hours gaming at no extra cost. Ok, i would get back home at around 10PM at night, but there would be less traffic on the roads and im happy to arrive at that time.

Opposing this, starting the LAN on the thursday evening would mean that it would cost more for a further nights stay at the hotel and would mean that some would have to leave work earlier on the thursday to really gain the extra time (and hit rush hour). In best case I could leave my house at 7PM and arrive at around 9PM. If i then set up my computer then i might get 2-3 hours more gaming.

In summary, it seems that extending to thurs would cost more and gain less hours; whereas extending to sunday would be cheaper and gain more hours of gaming. All in all, I like the sound of an extended LAN, but one which would effectively cost similar and gain more use of the weekend time. I think extending to later on Sunday is a perfect fit for this.

I already arrive at around 10AM on the friday and so I think that the friday is already extended as much as possible for me.

I am pretty sure that the 4 others that come with me and GM (Absolutehype, Chronos, Norton, Jay) would also be up for an extended Sunday and have simular feeling to me, although i will encourage them to come on here and post their views.
