Just posting to let you know this morning I woke to the sounds of pneumatic drills outside, 30 mins later all phone lines on our street were down Inc Internet access. Have rang bt and they say it can take upto 3 days to fix so until my net is back I'll be struggling to get online as my iPhone isn't set up for tethering.

Who am I?

Name is Dave, from the UK and getting on a bit now at 34, currently working on the Railway and doing some home study with the Open University

Connection Stuff

Internet connection is 99% solid, had the odd occurence where it has gone a bit wonky in the past but usually its fixable with a router reboot otherwise I usually run anywhere from 70-250ms at worst

Computery Bit

Been a while but its self built with a Windows Experience (means you BSOD faster right?) is 5.9 let down by the HDD, rest of parts are 6.5-6.9

Been playing games since I borrowed a zx81 from a guy down the street, then went onto a spectrum 48k with rubber keys and kempston joystick (yep showing my age here), never really been off them while growing up having consoles in 1 flavour or another from snes to saturn to sony playstation, got a pc Pentium 120mhz and always had one since, started playing WoW in February 05, 4 months after release and looking back its probably the worst thing I ever did if I worked out and hourly rate for gaming hours i'd be quite well off financially.

I've raided or raidleaded since Vanilla on and off taking a break from it all in BC due to work constraints but i did do some casual pvp on Bladefist as a rogue then moved it here towards the end of BC, In WoTLK i first levelled my priest, then rerolled a DK and mained that whilst raiding in Been There Done That, Cleared all content upto ICC25 LK also including a lot of hardmodes on my DK whislt, toward the end of my study this year i took a small break and stepped down from the officer role I was in due to feeling that people deserved better I set standards high in myself and I wouldnt want to retain a title or role I felt I didnt deserve. I came back a couple of months ago and have been levelling alts recently finding my love again for the rogue class which i always fall into despite its shortcomings in 1v1 pvp, acheived Kingslayer on it after 7 days of being 80 in a pug at 3am in the morning in mainly triumph gear (carried a little but one to disprove the GS = all theory think group average was 5.4k overall)

My plans are to leave my DK as retired, I enjoyed the class for what it was but I dont feel i can really get anymore out of it, it was always a challenge being frost spec (the underdog spec) but played well it always worked
currently though to raid on my rogue and take it into cataclysm as my main, currently doing a little levelling on the Cataclysm Beta with one also.

Personality is a tough one to answer, I guess my own opinion will differ from others but the people who know me usually have good words to say about me, pretty easy going always glad to help people unless someone is taking the **** ofc and always open to suggestion from others on how to improve my game, I still enjoy the raiding side of WoW and PvP to a lesser degree.

Dislike about WoW right now is GEARSCORE! with a passion.

Why did you decide to play this class?

Got bored of the DK after a break, Always had fun with my Rogue and Mutilate is pretty fun to play and suits my playstyle, also its nice to be learning the ins and outs of a class again which i'll look to master like i did Kelsey.

What do you think your class' role is in raid content?

Primarily DPS, while providing ToT for tanks for increased threat =  overall raid dps ceiling, usually after things settle it can be traded with another rogue although threat hasnt really come into issue in this expansion like it used to in Vanilla and BC. Also interrupts without the burden of being spell hit capped (believe me that was fun on General Vezaxx as a dk) some utilty can be offered on occasion with locking down a stray add while a tank picks it up or minimizing the damage it does till its picked up.

Comment on your build.

My choice of Mutilate is pretty much the best spec for me at my current gear level with the recent poison changes according to elitistjerks.com and other rogues i spoke to, it also favours single target dps ie Saurfang Fester with a slightly larger 'ramp up' time similar to frost dks i guess and with ICC buffs its possible to stack just haste and get insane numbers but gear dependant which i'm just not at yet. Combat is nice but has a very spammy playstyle though with high end gear levels it is pretty strong too, I do have better combat weapons than my current daggers should a switch be needed.

What do you look for in a guild?

I'm looking for consistency, a good social side and feeling of community and knuckling down when its needed

''Dead Men Raiding'' - What comes to mind when you see that guild name?

The first initial thought was the cast of the thriller video playing WoW... seriously though I thought it was some reference to the movie about the nun and the deaths row prisoner

There are other guilds on the server, why did you apply to us?
Who do you know in Dead Men Raiding? How do you know them?

I know Lóla who is in the guild which kinda made me look at DMR first, known her for the best part of 5yrs ingame, never heard bad words from her and I then I saw you needed rogues so it kind of all made sense to apply.


Have you read our 'what we look for' and 'philosophy' posts? What do you think of them?
Yes, very similar approach as i'm accustomed to, no one wants to have their time wasted in raids keep it productive.

A guildie says something you find offensive, what do you do?

I'd probably have a quiet word and not make any drama over it, if it persisted i'd raise it with someone if it required some sort of moderation from a 3rd party I can fend for myself usually though.
