We've got a spot open in the group. We usually play on Sunday nights but are pretty flexible. We're only on our 5th or so scenario and can get someone up to speed pretty quick. Leave a message here if you are interested or give me a shout on Discord if you want a chat about it.

No Man's Sky / Another nms update
July 17, 2020, 02:55:12 PM
Just gave this a try and it's kinda fun. The enemies on the one ship i boarded didn't pose any threat but I've got a lot of upgrades installed on my equipment. Would be more fun in MP, but would prob need some kind of scaling.

Destiny 2 / This week in D2
July 17, 2020, 10:54:50 AM
Oh this episode of This Week in Destiny 2, Beyond Light (September big expansion) has been delayed until November 10th. More info here: https://old.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/hsdfr9/beyond_light_release_window_update/

They've said they are extending the current season and will hold some special events to make up for it.

There's currently a setting on the old raids that stops the weekly reward lock out, so if people want to try the raids and get the funky weapons from there, between now and then is the time to do it, as amognst other things, a lot of the raids are being removed come November.

From my understanding, the game was meant to be a PvP open world game; where you drop items when you die etc.  This didn't hit well with initial testing groups and the heads decided to cater to the PvE crowd and pivot away from the PvP focus. The problem was, they didn't have enough PvE content or endgame ready.

Seems pretty respectable that they have decided to delay it that long, when they could have pulled an EA and released it in the state Anthem was...

The original D2 campaigns have their ups but are not the best honestly. They do affect overarching story, and strikes you end up playing won't make sense without knowing what happens in them, though you could get that from a YouTube video to be fair.

Forsaken is very solid but the story so far is pretty self contained. I think you have to buy the Forsaken expansion to get access to the story, dungeon and Raid. This content isn’t being sunset/mothballed come September and I’d assume it will probably go free, so might not be worth buying right now?

Shadowkeep is the most recent expansion (until September rolls around) and is way more relevant to current events than the previous one. Doubt this one will be free when the next expansion rolls around, but might get cheaper.

Unless you get well into it or don’t mind splashing some cash, I’d wait on buying Forsaken and Shadowkeep until September.

Destiny 2 / Prophecy Dungeon
June 16, 2020, 03:58:18 PM
Just thought I'd make a post to say the new dungeon is beautiful. Ran it with a couple of guys (both above 1050 and me at about 1045ish) and it was a blast. Some parts of it are beautiful and the encounters are interesting and engaging.

You don't need the season pass to play it but need to grind the power levels for it. Anything below 130 is going to be a struggle without others at 150 or so.

It's also sadly going at the end of the season, as according to Bungie it's not compatible with the engine upgrades they have in the works or something of the like.

I don't think the season is worth it for the content alone really, it's just a bigger + more hectic public event similar to EP, there's the dungeon but that's free to all. I think the only draw would be the story but it's going to be drip fed leading up to September.

There is logic to the sunsetting of weapons though... They made a mistake with the power level of guns like Recluse and Mountaintop. They either nerf those guns into mediocrity or the power creep gets to insane levels. With sunsetting, they let people keep the guns for lesser activities but force people to use new load outs for harder content like raids and nightfalls etc. so new weapons they release will get used.

Also, I've jumped back into the game after being away since Shadowkeep. Got some grinding to do to get the power level up but up for doing dungeons and nightfalls etc. Have also done most of the raids if we have the numbers and people fancy trying them.

Hey all, Gortex, RogueTaylor and I are looking to start running a game of Gloomhaven on Sunday nights. It's a Tabletop dungeon crawler style game that we'll be running in Tabletop Simulator (TTS). Not really played anything like it before so can't really give a comparison but a good intro and review by Shut Up & Sit Down can be seen here:

Thankfully the people who set it up in TTS have it pretty much fully scripted so there is a lot less setup time, but there are quite a few rules to get your head around and a whole bunch of admin in the game that needs to be managed to keep track of things.
It's got quite a lot of content in it and you get random quests that when fulfilled, allow you to unlock more characters. There's also an evolving world in the game, so it's a lot like an RPG but with the role playing cut out. Supposedly you can keep a campaign going for months...

If you're interest and you'd be up for playing on Sundays from 8pm onwards then leave a reply here and/or give me a shout on Discord.
I might look to run another game on a week night but not before I've played through some scenarios and have a better understanding of the game and what's involved in playing through it.

Games alright to be honest, and whilst it lacks depth; due to the audience they are targeting, it's still pretty fun. Picked it up for £1 via Gamepass and cancelled the sub right away.

I've managed to play through to the last difficutly but don't think I'd want to push much more past that in solo play, but I reckon it would be a good laugh in co-op.

As Mike and others I have heard say, it's a fun game to play with a youngun. Seems like a good way to train them up to grind gear for you when they're a bit older :norty:
