Counter-Strike 1.6 / Odd problem

Mmm, not sure what's causing that. Have you tried a search on the Steam Forums to see if anyone else has the prob?

I tend to avoid that wretched hive of scum and villainy as best i can, to be honest. Whilst it provides a laugh now and then either for people getting VAC / Steam banned and ignorant comments ("NS is just a cheap knock-off of HLDM"), finding something which is in anyway helpful is predominately a fruitless endeavour.

(also it would seem that they're down)

In related news, looks like Loki is going to try to take on the MPAA now, raising $26k of an estimated $30k to start the 1st month of court fees.

Saw that too, was quite surprised to see the amount of donations too.

But in all honesty, when it comes to sites of this nature, i really wouldn't be surprised if he just took the money and ran. He will lose this case, whilst torrent sites may be somewhat exempt from standard piracy laws, there is no questioning the site's purpose. No amount of "do not download files you don't legally own" disclaimers you put on your site, you know, i know, and whoever runs lokitorrent knows that the site is for piracy, not legitimate filesharing.

For all these websites that are protesting legal filesharing (loki, suprnova, ET, hell, most torrent sites), they're really doing nothing to help the case.

Here's an idea, if you want to promote filesharing and P2P in a good light, how about starting a torrent site which only shares legal files? How about a new P2P protocol which blacklists any copyrighted games, applications and music? Kicking and screaming in court about how "filesharers" are being "persecuted" and are doing "nothing wrong" and then running and promoting a website that allows you to download the latest games, music, applications and porn, will ultimate find any defence you may have laughed out of court.

Counter-Strike 1.6 / Odd problem

I'm not sure if this has always been the case, but i'm pretty sure this is a new problem that's cropped up as of late.

If i start my own CS server locally, just to test models, maps or whatnot out, there's a few errors that are dogging me.

The first is that i automatically get put on CT, if i try to change team, i select the team, then the server restarts itself, putting me back on CT again. Ontop of this, my HUD is missing, and every so often the buy menu doesn't work at all either.

I've made no customisation changes or script changes either, not sure if this has the same effect online (Since nobody's ever on the dMw 1.6 servers -_-) but it's a major annoyance on my own listen server.

Anyone either having the same issues or know what's causing it?

It's my Birthday! / Anti spam plan overwhelms sites

Bloody marvellous. Whilst the likes of DoS and DDoS attacks are not great things at all, the DDoS'ing of spammers is something i can wholeheartedly agree with. :)

To be honest, i'm nowhere near as taken with this second offering than i was with Sands Of Time. The first game was bright, original and downright fun, this one, whilst moving in a darker, more mature way, just isn't as fun at all, and being the sequel, just isn't as innovative or original as the previous one was.

Did find a hilarious bug though. For some reason, when travelling forwards through time, the prince's body disappeared and from then on, all i controlled was a floating head and a floating weapon.

Well, it all went to pot from when i made it to getting it online, so the timing that i did have is no longer there, anyway, i still think it's funny.

It's my Birthday! / Gingerbread house
December 21, 2004, 01:00:05 PM
For some reason i feel the need to kick down the gingerbread house and then point and laugh. While yes, it's impressive, it angers me that i cannot do something like that, and when i can't do something, nobody will! :D

It's my Birthday! / Suprnova bites the dust
December 20, 2004, 11:45:30 PM
Wow, it made national news?

But anyway, this is no big blow. There were no news reports when several sites i can't name got busted, specifically one of them which got busted and the owner ended up in prison due to something like 1,000+ credit card numbers and charges of massive fraud, yet a lowly, poorly seeded place like suprnova does.

The likes of the **AA (MPAA & RIAA) are hitting the publicity boosters, that's all, they're making no blow to "the scene". They're making a vain attempt at showing people "Yeah! We're cracking down on piracy!" when in truth, the people that make the pirated movies, rip the pirate games, are still entirely at large and entirely unaffected by the events of something such as suprnova being shut down.

Good riddance, suprnova. :)

Nice choice, i've been looking at a C2 for some time now, my Saxo's taken a fair beating and it's about time to trade it in for a newer one.

One thing though, the bodywork, hmm, bugs me really, it looks much better after it's got a kit on it, hell, even the bodykit that citroen are offering looks much better.

For some reason, i've started to go off modern cars.

*goes back to dreaming of a '48 caddie*

Movies, Music & Books / Bands
December 20, 2004, 02:45:54 PM
I'm fairly similar to Sadako, i have an extensive cd collection covering anything from black metal, classical, ambient, ska, electronic and hip hop.

I can't give a list of all the bands i like as i'd be here all day, and even then i'd still miss the majority of them, but i can say what i've been listening to as of late.

The Vandals (Punk)
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy (Swing / Jazz)
Dimmu Borgir (Black Metal)
Goldie (Drum n Bass)
Bonkers X (Hardcore)
Mad Caddies (Ska)
Lars Fredricksen & The Bastards (Punk)
Darkthrone (Black Metal)
NWA (Rap)
And One (EBM)
Buju Banton (Ska / Reggae / Dancehall)
10 Masked Men (Death Metal)
Ultraviolence (Digital Hardcore)
Sick Of It All (Hardcore Punk)
Snuff (Punk)
Rancid (Punk)
Bazooka Girls (Eurobeat)
The Slackers (Ska)
Venetian Snares (Noise / Breakbeat)
Space Frog (Hardcore)

And that's pretty much everything that's been in circulation either on winamp or on my car's cd player. :)

Well, it's valid until 1/1/2006 but doesn't include the expansions, also, they reserve the right to boot people due to high server load that may affect paying customers. But damn, it's still a good deal. Signing up now. :)
