well, I spent 80 odd quid for 1 gig and when fitted in slot 3 yesterday, stopped pc from booting up

so ....when I get a minute, I'm gonna strip out me ram and start again 1 at a time, 1 gig 1st, then 512, then 512...until it works.

if It doesn't....I'm looking for an excuse to do a TOTAL upgrade to give Toxteth a pc by october (when his older bro goes to uni....watch out monkey...he'll be after your gaff in 12 months )

I was considering the ram but after some driver reinstalls my AGP is back up to 8x from "off" (silly ati smartgart rubbish...) and BF2 seems to be playing much smoother! hurrah!
