I had my first go as a SL this evening, playing MEC forces.

I don't know about you guys, but I think it went OK. I gave only simple orders: Defend here, attack there. Stay and repulse the next attack, and the counterattack at the next flag.... worked fine.

With a little more practice, I'll put myself up for SL on the roster. That is, if you want me too at a later time.

I'd really like to try a bit more as SL, if you let me

I didn't have much time to play this week. Next week, it'll be better. I'll be able to play for more than ten minutes.

The only thing bad about the game today was that my mike stopped working. It has to do with my soundcard not wanting to stay at basic acceleration. Anyone know how to fix this (withouth having to run dxdiag ever second day)?

I love playing SL - As you can tell - I even started bossing people about last night when YOU were SL! (I thought I was SL)...

To be honest I now don't worry about whether I am being 'bossy' or not, as several people have told me that they don't mind as it takes the pressure off them to have someone else make all the strategic decisions.

The only thing that is a bit frustration about being Squad Leader is that you really should 'lay back' a bit from the action and not take any big risks - so that your guys can spawn near (but not directly into) the action.

- SO one thing I have tried out is being a sniper as SL (and also as Commander), so I can get a scope view of teh action (handy for spotting), and also lend a hand to my squad by popping off 'flankers' and dealing with enemy snipers.

Yeah, I agree. What I did yesterday was to position myself on a hillside close by the base, and then rake any flankers with my machine gun (I played support). I got quite a few lone attackers that way.

When the flag was captured, and it was time for defense against the unevitable counterattack, I positioned myself somewhere overlooking the most likely point where the attack might come. Worked nice.

I also made it a point to move around a bit, to spot enemy vehicles and generally get a good orientation of the spot we were currently attacking or defending.

The only problem is that people spawing around you will blow your cover so you've gotta keep moving.

I usually end up as SL by default.

I usually get on the maps first, so I form the squad. Sometimes I'll wait for others to create a squad and join, but somehow I end up being SL again eventually.

Last night I left the squad and rejoined on request to allow another SM to be SL, then the next in line left and I became SL again!?!

He had to go and form a new squad to be SL.
