Single player mode better than ranked?

Saturday and Sunday afternoons can be when I actually have the house to myself and I can get on for a long session...

Only trouble is none of the dMw or TG guys seem to be about - so it's ranked server time!

:(

And yes, it was just as bad an experience as it usually is...

This is how bad it was - I was the ONLY guy actually in a squad in a 32 player map at one point!

Nobody voice comms - there is no co-ordination.

Squad leaders (when u can get them) do not give orders and NOBODY paints targets or enemy...

Ggggrrrrr...

I got so fed up with this I resorted to BF2's single player mode - and guess what?

The single player mode (in expert) gives you a better game than the ranked servers!

Medics medic you - Squad Leaders give orders OR if you are Squad Leader people actually FOLLOW your orders! Squads actually GO where you tell them or defend without moaning!

From now on - if no one is in the dMw or TG server - I am going to play on the single player mode (or go and play CIV IV!).

I can't believe that the bots are smarter and better behaved than real people...But ranked servers just seem to be stuffed full of morons!

Unfortunatly I doubt you'll ever manage to find a really good game going on a ranked server, because the only reason the great majority of players are on them for is to improved there own rank, they dont care about how well the teams doing or anything else thats going on, all there concerned about is getting 15 knife kills in a round for there next badge.

Ranked servers were a novel idea when the game 1st came out, but for all the good there doing for the game you might aswell make bf2 into a Q3 deathmatch clone.

I'm playing on some BF2 servers were it's actually good to play on. I'm allways the commander and if people ask for supplies or so, I give it to them. Allways helps out and I get good back up. Don't start on them big servers like 32 vs 32. Do the smaller ones. Fridaynight I've visited one publicserver and I asked if they were about good teamplay and sportmanship. They said they were. Then I asked why the admin kept swapping al his clan fellas to one team and why I had a team of n00bs (it was 8 of his clan against some n00bs and me). Must say that I gave 'em hell because I was the commander of my squad and got loads of them with my artillery.

BTW, here's a link if you want to know how to get ribbons/medals and stuff, really handy: http://www.bf2s.com/player/

I have had some good games on ranked servers.

the trick seems to be to find a clan ranked server rather than an a EA ranked public ones. Then it's just the same pot luck as the TG server.

Some of the medal objective are a bit silly ( 15minutes on a sam site ) but I do get some bizarre pleasure in getting them. it's a bit like WOW in that way.

Exactly Arm, I've did the same yesterdaynight on a Dutch publicserver. As I didn't became the commander I made a squad. I ended up with a fellow Dutchy who had great VoiceComms and who will be dropping by on the forum.
My commander was a bit of a pain in the *rse @ first because he didn't give me orders while I was asking for them. He tryed kicking me twice and I tryed kicking him once. After that I decided to proceed in a different way and told my commander over VC that I'll try and blow up the opponents Arty/UAV and all aslong as he gave me resupplies. Must say the dude totally turned around and I must say we had some really GG's.

Agreed, I've also had some good games on ranked servers. Got in a squad last week and ended up chatting two two very amiable chaps, we had a right laugh and caused mucho hassle  :D

interesting. I find the bots almost totally ignored my orders    They barely managed to stick together as you would at least expect the AI to do, and they failed to take adgantage of the vehicles a lot of the time. Entertaining for sniper practice, especially as the lone defender of an outpost :D Just pick a position near a TOW launcher.

BF2 single player is just like all the other bf series...tacked on to the multiplayer bit :D
