Well, I tried GTL and was looking forward to getting online, but it wouldn't have it. Single player got a bit tedious, so nosing around I found Toca 3.

I remember the incarnations from the PS1 era and they were ok so I thought I'd give it a go. (As a side note the codemasters site also talks of a Sensible Soccer remake - that's another post though)

So, Toca, I fired it up last night, with it's bloody Starforce circumbented with an mdf file from the usual suspects.

And....I love it. Great graphics and the balance between realism and arcade is just right for me. Loads of cars and the career type mode is great, with a manager who advises and guides and almost makes you feel part of it.

For example, knocked some geezer off the track and he came and had a go at me later in the paddock.

There's a huge range which would normally mean a huge range of mediocre game styles, but the ones I covered last night - single seaters, rally, clio cup - all played really well and distinctly differently.

There's a review here if you want it.

The only thing I would say is wang the difficulty above normal if you want the challenge.

I'll get round to getting gtl working if that is our weapon of choice, but thought I'd flag TOCA as a good single player jaunt.....dunno if it multiplayers or not.

And I couldn't possibly comment on Starforce. That would be un-ethical. I'm gonna try a reinstall tonight, circumventing the starforce bit...

TOCA RD2 was great, and that new one sure is meant to be better. If I had time to play it I'd grab it.

IMHO, in the Toca 3 demo, it is too much arcade.
