What a Difference a Year Makes!!

It is almost a year since SoG started raiding Molten Core and I thought it would be nice to set out the difference a year makes and compare the speed of progress between the two raid groups and the difficulties faced by each:

We started raiding in a combined Danu/SoG Alliance raid group on 19th June 2005, taking Azuregos to 65%.
The Danu/SoG Alliance raid group started raiding MC on 26th June 2005
(one month gap)
Danu/SoG Alliance raid group downed Lucifron on 13th July 2005.
(one month gap)
Danu/SoG Alliance raid group downed Magmadar on 5th August 2005.
Danu/SoG Alliance raid group downed Gehennas on 7th August 2005.
(one week gap)
Danu/SoG Alliance raid group downed Garr on 16th August
(one week gap)
Danu/SoG Alliance raid group downed Baron Geddon on 23rd August 2005.
Danu/SoG Alliance raid group downed Shazzrah, Sulfuron and Golemagg on 30th August 2005.
(one week gap)
Danu/SoG Alliance raid group downed Majordomo Executus on 8th September.
(The Danu/SoG Alliance ended so SoG's Rad Group 1 was formed to raid solo)
(four month gap)
RG1 finally downed Ragnaros on 5th January 2006.

So, from start to finish, Lucifron to Ragnaros and taking account of having to rebuild the raid group following the end of the Danu/SoG alliance raid group, members of RG1 spent 7 months working their way through Molten Core, developing tactics and paying repair bills.

RG1 first went to Onyxia on 12th August 2005. They finally killed her for the first time a month later on 9th September 2005.

For comparison, this is RG2's progress:

RG2 started raiding MC on 23rd March 2006.
On their first night RG2 downed Lucifron, Magmadar and Gehennas.
(one week gap)
RG2 downed Garr, Geddon and Shazzrah on 2nd April 2006.
(one week gap)
RG2 downed Sulfuron and Golemagg on 10th April 2006.
(two week gap)
RG2 downed Majordomo Executus on 24th April 2006.
(one month gap)
RG2 downed Ragnaros on 21st May 2006.

So, from start to finish, Lucifron to Ragnaros, RG2 spent 2 months working their way through Molten Core using established tactics and paying repair bills.

RG2 first went to Onyxia on 27th March 2006 and killed her that very night.

What a difference a year of practice makes!!

Huge congratulations to all SoG members on the forthcoming anniversary of SoG beginning end-game instance raiding. It is something that is very much now in our Guild blood but I hope that we continue to provide a happy home for all our members, both raiders and non-raiders alike.

I would especially like to congratulate those who have made RG1 the success it has become. It has taken a massive amount of time, effort, perseverance, gold and more important than anything else, TEAMWORK to make the progress we have done to date.

Grats also go to RG2 for their super fast progress through MC!

Just a quick correction we started raiding MC on 26th of June. The raid on 19th of June was on Azuregos and we got him to 65%.

Lets start this with a BIG THX to RG1 for all the help to RG2. No way we coud make a 2 mounth gab. From giants to raggy. And I will do all to make RG2 progress fast in MC so we can get the timers down and get some more time for ONY aswell.

And a big GRATZ to all the old SOG members with the 1 year of raiding. :hapbday:

What about the SOG meet, you will probely not see me there sry, but there are alot of reasons for this.
