Hello fellow guildies I just joined guild with my alt druid tonight, since I have not big experience in healing as druid in big raids I wanted to ask yous for some help:

About me playing as druid, I have only done Strat/scholo/LBRS/UBRS as druid healer and done healing manually, meaning no macroes or addons for calcualing and such stuff.
Corrently my talent build is 35/0/16 with Moonkin form ( :boxing:  ) and imp healing touch.

Helps needed:

1) addons to make things a little easier than manual
*I'm a bit affraid to go find those because of the incidents of hacking.

2) Do we need a full resto drood because if we do I can respec?
I will post my profile later.

Thx in advance cya all IG.

Personally I don't really use many druid mods.

There are two that I find usefull:

Druid bar: http://www.curse-gaming.com/en/wow/addons-251-1-druid-bar.html. This enables you to monitor the amount of mana you have, while in forms. It's pretty nice to have, especially in situations where you shift a lot like in PvP. Not very usefull in raids on the other hand.

Healing Toucher: http://www.curse-gaming.com/en/wow/addons-2942-1-healing-toucher.html. This mod automaticly picks the right rank of HT for you, depending on your targets health deficit and your settings. It's great for the 'lazy' healer :norty: . I use this mod for healing while fighting thrash mobs, when the incoming damage is low; it helps perserving mana. But don't use it during boss fights, it will cause you to heal to little and to late! When healing a tank you'll want to start casting a 'big-ish' heal (HT 7 or 8) before he actually takes damage (just cancel it half way the cast when it's not needed). Generally druid heals are pretty slow; naturally you want them to hit when they are needed, starting to cast after the damage already have been done is pretty useless :narnar: . Keep in mind though that this mod will no longer function in TBC.

In the end, manual healing is always the prefered way of doing it (at least in my opinion). Mods can make some things easier, but they're always restricted to certain situations.

And regarding your spec:
Respeccing is definately not required imo, you can heal properly regardless of your talent distribution, skill > gear > spec. Putting 21 (or more) points in restro will help though (imp HT, reflection, Tranquil Spirit, NS), but that's entirely up to you. I can however give you some advice if you're considering a new raid oriented build.
If you're looking for a nice Balance/Restro combo, you could consider one of these:

30/0/21, healing build that leans more towards balance: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/druid/talents.html?50035000021513500000000000000000505203005010000.

23/0/28, the most mana efficient healing build there is (even the best healing build there is imo): http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/druid/talents.html?50035000020503000000000000000000505103105215000.

Or even feral/restro, 0/30/21: this is a (very) nice hybrid build, HotW will improve all your forms; the +20% int makes this spec 'better' for healing during 'shorter' fights (like in MC/ZG/AQ20/first half of BWL): http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/druid/talents.html?00000000000000005001501323022150055013105010000.

Hope this helps ^_^ .

Yup it did thanks.

now to the part I forgot mentioning. Macro.
I see people different classes use macro for announcing casting a spell on >insert target<, pulling >insert target< and so on... I think I need help making those for innervate and Battle res, tried to understand the mechanic of macro making but no use and have been struggling with it in sometime, no use. So if you can copy paste yours here I'll be grateful.

If you check out this thread, I think you'll find quite a lot of info about macros and scripting there.  You'll also find a couple of links to external resources about the topic I think :)

But if you simply want a macro to say something like "Battle Ressing ", just do the following:
1.Create a new macro.
2.Type: "/y Battle Ressing %t" (without the quotes. Btw you can replace /y by /s, /p, /raid or whatever you like).
3.Press ENTER to go to the next line and SHIFT-click your rebirth spell (at least I think it was SHIFT-click :g: ).
4.Drag the macro's button to where ever you want it and your done.

The same goes for any other spell + notification marco.

But if you want to do more advanced stuff, the thread that Bob linked has more info.

I could also mention that I too use Druid bar, but I don't use Healing Toucher - I use Druid Func 2.0 instead.

It is actually starting to get quite a big addon with lots of nice stuff for druids (include different wardrobes for different shapes, tons of macros and many other nice features).  I mainly use the Healing Touch script (same as Healing Toucher, it calculates the best HT for your current target, but you have some more advanced options to specify a given amount of overhealing (if you want to be on the safe side), spesify only a given range of HT to choose from etc).  It also contains scripts for Innervate and Rebirth where you can set if you want to notify the raid/target that you are casting the given spell.

It also have many other nice features, but you can read all about that on the page I linked :)

Two mods I absolutley can not live without.

Telo's SelfCast and Apollo Shift

Other then that CTRA has pretty much what you need as a healer, and I've currently switched from using Decursive to using Detox. You might want a mod called Innervate ftw, if you find yourself wasting Innervate by accident occationally

They should really disable the innervating of no-mana using classes. In the past I sometimes accidently innervated rouges and warriors  .

And btw Bob, Healing Toucher is able to do some of that extra stuff as well, since a couple patches ago (like overheal % and max rank HT). Still nothing too fancy though.

The innervate mod I use atm is called EZInnervate. It has channel notification to the druid channel as wella s whispering to your innervate target. It will not innervate someone with full mana or a non mana user.
