Draft: announcement to the members

Based roughly on the minutes that Gorion posted from the TS meeting, I've the following suggestion for a announcement to the members about SOG's status, raiding and what we plan to do onwards.

It has now been about a month and a half since SOG went through its perhaps most dramatic incident up till now. A couple of days ago, the officers had a meeting on TS where we talked about how this first time under new management has been, and we also tried to make some plans for the time to come.

The main and primary goal we had sat for ourselves, was to get the guild to settle after all the chaotic events around the release of TBC. Thanks to all you who have remained in SOG, we feel this is something we have accomplished. We still see a person leaving from time to time, and there is also some that have returned (which we are very glad they chose to), but all in all the guild roster now seems to have stabilized.


Our pool of level 70 members is now starting to approach a decent size, and more and more people are dinging every day. This means that the time for when we can start thinking of some serious raiding is getting closer. Currently we have come up with the following sketch on how we wish to approach this:

Our goal is to have at least one group ready for Karazhan within week 16 (16th of April =>). Hopefully we'll manage to have two groups running in parallel here, but it's not certain there will be enough people (and a proper class balance) for this from that date. There will be made a poll very shortly on who wants to raid, and who doesn't, just so we can get an overview on how many and which classes we have. In a couple of weeks, another poll will be made where people can say what days they are available for raiding (we plan a 2-day raid schedule).

For this to be possible, all those that wants to start raiding must get on with the attunement quest line to Karazhan. All info about this can be found in the [post=178965]Where are you attuned[/post] thread. As of now there ain't even close to enough people with their names on that list, so we urge you all to help each other out here.

As of now, we have yet to make any final decision on details such as for instance attendance requirements. We hope to have approximately 25 persons to split over two Karazhan groups, and with a raiding schedule of 2 days, you'll have a rough idea on how much each one will have to be present. Please also note that we do not wish to have two small raid groups with a fixed pool of members, but rather one big group which will be split up randomly (as long as class balance are satisfactory) into two parallel Karazhan runs. This is to avoid the old situation with RG1 and RG2, where one group was seen as "better" than the other, and rather have all the members get to know and play with each other.

Is there anything important I have forgotten, or anything that should be written in another way? Only thing I don't feel 100% satisfied with yet is the penultimate paragraph, but I must head out to school now, so no more time to think about it at the moment.

Here's a TL'd version for your consideration.

It has now been about 6 weeks since SOG went through some dramatic changes and the officers recently met to review the progress we have made since then and to finalise plans for SOG in the future.

The primary goal we had set for ourselves was to stabilise the guild after the chaotic events around the release of TBC.  Our thanks go to all you who have remained in SOG.  We believe that the Guild is now stable again and it is nice to see that some of the members who left thinking that the grass might be greener elsewhere have in fact found that in this is not the case and have applied to return to SOG.

We now have an increasingly good number of level 70 members with many more due to reach L70 in the coming week or two.  This means that the time for SOG to start raiding again is very much closer.  The Officers have considered how to proceed under these circumstances and have concluded that this is how we wish to approach things:

• Our goal is to have at least one raid group ready for Karazhan within week 16 (week beginning 16th April).  We aim to have two groups running in parallel, but it's not quite certain there will be enough people (and a proper class balance) for this from that date.
• There will be made a poll posted very shortly on who wants to raid, and who doesn't, so that we can get an idea on how many and which classes will be raiding.
• Soon after we will post an additional poll to confirm which days people are available for raiding
• We are initially planning a 2 raids per week schedule.

All members who wish to start raiding Karazhan must get on with the attunement quest line to Karazhan. Information about how to get attuned can be found in this thread.  When you are attuned to Karazhan please post your name in this thread.   As of now there aren't enough members attuned, but the attunement process is not that long and can be done fairly quickly, so we urge you all to focus on this attunement process and help each other out with the required instance runs.

Well done, allthough id personaly avoid polling for which days. If you look back at the poll on say the 4th raid day for RG1, youll see that the spread of days ends up so great you cant do anything w/ the results. Just my 2c worth, nice job otherwise.

As was pointed out on the TS meeting, supplying ones comments to posts such as this one is really important. In this particular case, I think we need to get the message out to the members fast, as I would guess many start to be a bit impatient.

One example, is Drazila posting this in a thread:

My hope was to try slave pens or underbog heroic somewhere close to the end of the week and to possibly have enough people attuned to karazhan at wednsday next week for a try at the first bosses their in that week

So if people have things to add to the TL'd version of the announcement, please post 'em here ASAP, so we can move it out in the members sections, preferably already later tonight.
