Spirit Shards?

Well i started up my rogue again to get him to lvl 70.
 
But i am now in the forrest and you can get Spirit shards??
 
What are they what can you do with it and how do you get those things???

Spirit shards can be collected from the corpse of each boss killed in an Auchindoun instance whilst the PVP tower buff (I think it is called 'Spirit of Auchindoun') is in effect.  

If I recall the towers are open to be 'claimed' for Horde or Alliance every 6 hours and once taken remain with that faction for the duration of the buff.  This is why it is important that when the tower timers approach zero that you go to the towers and take control of them for the Alliance.

Yep.. There is a guy in the Allerian Stronghold who accepts these Spirit Shards for some rewards.. PvP stuff mainly.. Some blue gems (8xshards), blue helmets (18xshards) and epic rings (50xshards)..

Off-topic, Just realised that thott now shows how high a percentage the ratings of the different stats give at lvl 70.. Nice feature :)
