righty, just bought a tft, and when playing certain videos (starcrat 2 trailer for example) the topmost part of the video has a 10mm thick line that sort of lags from the rest of the screen

also, when theres quick switching from bright to dark colours, sometimes they leave some sort of blur behind. (while playing videos)

none of this are present on a crt

anyone knows the cause, and perhaps a solution? or should i just return it?

this is what i got: http://www.viewsonic.com/products/desktopdisplays/lcddisplays/optiquest/q22wg/

(these above didnt happen with the fallout 3 hd trailer)

Yeah, and, what player are you using now? WMP?

Gorion

tried wmp, nero show time, power dvd and creative media source

the only one it doesnt have this problem is nero show time, since its not a real full screen video, the others are totally full screen

I know this is not a TFT issue, since it does not update like CRT monitors, but... have you checked the hertz settings? When you run the players in full screen, they might change resolution - as opposed to a maximised window - and hence try and run at a different hertz, or some different settings from "normal" resolution. Wild guess...

Edit: check what driver you are using for the monitor. Windows' own driver or something from the maker?

Gorion

latest nvidia driver for 8800

were do i check the herts? (and if it was this issue, why doesnt a dvd film have the same prob?)

You say certain videos only? In other videos there is no issue? If that is the case then you can be pretty positive it's a problem with your software/driver/codec/video-file. I've seen a sort of bright coloured line that's almost like an overscan where the colour info is messed up before during certain videos but it always affects the same videos. Does it still have when playing a DVD (i.e. not a divx file but an actual DVD)

If other videos are fine and it always does or does not happen with a given video I seriously doubt it has anything to do with the monitor. If it did then likely you'd get it randomly during games and normal use too.

p.s. My guess is it's some sort of overscan artifacting that some/all the players you are trying to use cannot cope with.

The output from the video players might be sending the overscan to a visible part of the TFT. Try something else like //www.videolan.org
