Me and Oth had a nice chat with Crystaline tonight, and maybe the female touch worked, I dont know. (NOT saying oth is female! This just comes out wrong anyhow I spell or type it..)
Anywho: He has now repsecced to shadowpriest, cos he wants to be useful in the raids. He says he appreciated all the helps he has gotten, but he needs to find out builds that works for him.
I understand that he needs to find out what makes his gameplay enjoyable, and right now he seemed happy with the shadowpriestbuild.

My point here is that we should give him a chance to get better and improve. And I dont much care for the bad attitude against any players really, eventho they really suck or are just plain bad.
I dont say I am like the nicest person or the politest or whatever, but I at least I try not to complain to people about their "suckyness".

That said: Give the guy a chance, he respecced for the guild and the raid, and not everyone would've done that.
Next time he will be signing up with his shadowpriest, and we welcome the mana-regen! :dribble:

(PS: would this be labeled as a pointless post TL? :P)

I'm not aware that any officer went to him to complain at his suckiness, although I certainly tried to impart some information that would help him (does that count as complaining?).  My intention was to improve his ability to heal, but some times even with the best intentions the message is either not received well, or not received at all.

I think he has a greater chance of succeeding as a shadowpriest, and wish him all the best in that particular endeavour.  If he does succeed then SOG will find the shadow priest a very useful raid addition.

cool, a shadowpriest in our guild :D
hope this works.. and i want him in my group.. and dreaman, i'm going to have wet dreams about manaregen :D seems like we're exploring more and more, this is good in 2 ways:
1) the raid get better
2) the players will be more happy

I didnt mean you in that part TL, but I have heard something about officers complaining directly too him. I dont know for sure tho, but I just wanted to tell that I dont think thats the way of doing it.
I have also heard others in the guild telling it to him as well, and in the end he will get tired of hearing complains. Which he stated last night.
But anyway, its resolved, and we'll hope he manage this shadowpriest :)

o

Im sure ill hear more about this tonight. Nice to have a shadow priest in the group now, not so nice for gear, another dps caster.

not to be an arse, but if you suck at one thing, months pass and you still suck with nearly no improvement done you will inevitabely get bad comments about it, and he gets them even from pugs

he cant heal efficiently, he cant manage heals well in raids, he cant heal right in heroics nor normal runs. fullstop

loads of help was given to him, from tea, bastet, spiritus, luna and possibly more. healing output was increased, overhealing went higher then the tower of babylon

i observed how he heals multiple times, this is what i see: starts casting greater heal, once its out, it starts over again immediately. hese oom in less then a minute

you cant leave him on the mt since he goes oom fast, you cant leave him on the rest or the party since he cant handle it (his own words)

my point here is that he had too much time to study what he does and improve it, or atleast learn how to heal without spamming the same button over and over again. after 3-4 months hese in the same spot

in short, this is his last chance, if it doesnt go well, he wont join anymore raids, whether he likes it or not.

we simply cant babysit him all the time resulting in the totally crap performance of the last 2 raids, we done better on our 1st 2 nights!

dont take me wrong here, i like the guy and we cleared hellfire together, but theres a limit to incompetence

he's a good healer.. last raid he healed as mutch as i did.
not that i'm a good healer.. but marduk is a great healer.
i'll go raiding with crys any time.. just for sosial raiding. so we're a hardcore raid now? plz set me to rg2 then.. or as a reserve.
coz crys has improved..

He has improved... greatly too... Just that yesterdays healing sucked. WAY to much overhealing. Im still getting details out of that damn recount addon, so im not sure, but those times i checked, he DID have high OH, but so did TL (Granted, not that much). I do not want to turn in to a hard core raiding guild, AGAIN, that was primarily  the reason i suspended my raiding the first time.

He has now respecced to shadow, so lets give him a chance, and ofc it will take a couple of tries to get all the details down, but the healing part is so trained that most of it prob goes on reaction and habit. And as you know, old habits and all... Who knows, maybe all he needs is another POV?

not wanting incompetence doesnt mean were a hardcore guild.. the 1st time we went in there, we had a better raid then last week.. on sunday we just managed to kill maiden, with loads of wipes even on trash, and on the 2nd day we only managed opera.. nightbane and curator were a total mess

he had around 43% overheal (correct me if ime wrong) and his mana vanishes in a min or 2, while tea is still around 70%

Lars, We dont mind poorer healers, we dont mind not sucseeding all the time, but last night he was OOM before nightbane took off for the first time. Me and TL where still at 95%, and at the time of our untimely death we all 3 had healed equal ammounts, Crys just did all of it in the first 20% of the time . There is just a limit to how much you can cover for, and in 10 man there is not a lot of leeway. As shadowpriest he should be a good addition to the guild, and provide a nice boost for the healers in therms of mana. As long as he stays shadow, he gets my tumbs up for staying in SOG as a raider.

I will not comment anything on his healing skills, cause I really don't know anything about that other than what you folks have written here. On a more general level however, I'd like to add some words:

That might very well be, but whenever we talk to him about it - especially us as officers - it should be given to him in a constructive way. We should strive for all our members to feel comfortable and enjoy themselves, and (sadly) direct honesty doesn't always help with that. I'm not saying we should put rose petals under his feet and pretend everything is OK, but try to look at the alternatives (as in going shadow) when we see that he don't get anywhere with the healing.

Also a thing to remember when talking to members - if we (whoever it is that contacts him (or anybody else)) at the moment feels a bit fed up with something stupid that has been done, perhaps it will be better to ask another officer to deal with it? Tell them what the problem is, and ask if they could discuss it with the person in question, as it's often easier to take that kind of "criticism" for somebody that comes a bit from "outside" the matter... Just a thought :)

Other than that, what Bastet said made pretty much sense.

we are doing that afaik

i havent talked to him in quite a while mate, ime actually evading talking to him about healing atall. i mostly prefer to talk without corners, so ime keeping back

and ime ok with him going shadow untill he manages to do something good with it, lets just hope he does a better job then what he was doing while healing

Me, TL and Luna talked to him, how to heal, what to do, what addons to run.

He didnt use any of the tips or addons.

We gave constructive feedback on a host of topics, sometimes at his request, sometimes to point him in the right direction, this has gone on for months, and yet... his healing is still substandard, effective is low (30% of raw), raw is 3 times bigger then even marduk can manage.

There is only so much that can be done, this is pritty much end of the line.

Yeah, that much I've figured - but than the challenge is, and it's definitely not easy, to say to him "you suck at healing" in a nice and constructive way... I believe it is possible, but I'm not sure how... Somebody good with words (*cough* TL) might have an idea perhaps?

But as he has gone shadow now, it's not really a big problem - at least not before he finds out that he would like to try healing again...
