Communication with Members

Folks, I have PM'd Gorion this late last night, but you need to figure out something to post to the members real fast to help calm the currently troubled waters.

For your information, I have not had an inside track on this, I found out about the new officers and who was going at the same time as everyone else.  I am just doing my best to keep things calm and to slap people who get out of line to remind them to be civil.  I have however pieced together enough to have a decent idea of what is going on.  

Some of this information is very sensitive and I can understand why it is not in the members' domain, so Gorion will need to decide what elements of it if any are appropriate to be discussed either with you and/or released to the members.  All I would say is that having spoken to pretty much everyone involved I have concluded that I will support Gorion and you the new officers in SOG and I will do whatever I can to assist you.  I have known Gorion since about 2 weeks after WoW's launch and I trust him.

Gorion knows he cocked up on the communication front with the exiting officers, he is trying his best to speak to them regularly to provide some TLC and apologies.  But that's water under the bridge now and you folks needs to be looking forward.

It will be a bumpy ride up ahead, but Marduk (and probably Bastet too as I am sure he will follow his brother to their new guild) do not make a guild and they certainly do not make a raid group.  You'll probably lose some more as collateral damage, but you have enough people to push through Gruul and onwards without them and a good enough name to recruit good replacements.

Try to be online as much as possible over the next few days, try to speak to as many people as possible and try to reassure them, they will need it as some people are continuing to try to destabilse the guild right now.

One final point that hit me when I read Lucian's post in the changes thread this morning - he made a link to dMw with the selection of a lot of dMw regulars to the officer position.  With my dMw Admin hat on that concerns me, so for the record:

Neither I nor dMw had anything to do with the selection of the new officers.  That was entirely Gorion's decision after taking advice from those officers who woudl remain.  You may wish to reaffirm this fact with members should they make an incorrect link to dMw's involvement.
