Quote from: Jabbs;223791'Some' people have difficulty in turning up for matches (as is highlighted by the need for subs all the time) of course but I feel we have enough players around who can be available for a 5 person team IF (big if I guess?) we play in ED or something. We have what eleven teams in teh ladder? If we did play one or two teams in ED, then I'm sure we have the players to do so. Also there are several players I notice who would make up a very good team indeed!

Well, as a former SL for both Charlie and Delta company and war arranger for 3+ years I have seen it from the worst side. People sign up as available and then never show up. Some doesn't even give an explanation why never showed up. As dMw have had as rule to never forfeit a match it have come down to the SL having to call people to just get full team on many occasions. This is one of the main reasons dMw stopped playing in ED. I will not say more about this as it is a partly infected subject.

From my own point of view I think the ladder is an excellent starting point for both match training and from future squad picking point of view. It is easy to see who shows up and not. Who could be good as SLs, wararranger etc. The ladder serves more than one purpose. :flirty: If we go into ED or not, well that is up to Whitey.

I'm a big fan of the ladder. I'm sure if the "Prize" was to play an ED match if wanted, that would be fine (becuase the winning team is less likely to rely on subs etc), but if the teams are picked I can see 4 completely seperate teams forming all representing DMW in the ladder...which wouldn't be great.

Allways been a fan from ED and will be.
When I put myself to available I made sure nothing interfeard.
Hope we get back there once again.

I'm a fan of the ladder and can see the benefits you mention Duvel for sure.  I was a Clan Leader of a CS 1.6 clan for a couple of years and I know from experience the problems that are encountered when trying to get a team up for a match.

The problem as you have hinted at for me was varying degrees of interest in the clan.  There was a few of us who were very keen but then the rest were 'I'll try and make it but my girlfriend might call' or 'I might be out with my mates' - you know the kind of thing and yes even not bothering to explain why they weren't there.

I don't see why a team could not be picked from the reliable players on the ladder?  They still get to play alongside each other on Boomer and MH and if an important match was upcoming then the group of players who were keen to play in the match would have to practice together of course.

EDIT (added this line) As for the prize of the Ladder winners, that would certainly be a nice thing to aim for although it could be said that the the winning team might not have the most reliable (turning up for matches) players etc etc...

I understand the reluctance to discuss too much ED etc as I have had problems with this (well people really) when I was CL.

Anyway, I'm gonna go with the flow and continue to enjoy the gaming we have here - keep it up please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Well spoken Mats.
I have been war arranger for half year, and indeed when there are peeps that sign's up  on the webby but don't show up at all.
That was the main prob...
Too get ennuf members for the matches.
What most members don't know is that an war arranger stick lots off time init too sort out matches and all stuff that comes with it..

Edit.: And like Duv said im happy when whe are gonna rejoin ED.
Also i did quit being wararranger, but im happy too be it again if needed.

Sithvid

I'm reliable :boxing: but not up to the ED standards! The mix on most of the ladder teams is quite fair with some good players and some whose level is Sith like  but wouldn't we want to put the best players through ?
I know the ethos its your attitude that counts, does this apply to ED too.?:dmw::ninja:

yup, we try our best and make sure we try and have fun. We've had some real whippings over the years and given a few out as well. Skill is not important, attitude is :dmw:

Sithvid

Ok well I'm up for it then.

I'm also up for it but like Sith says me thinks I'm wouldn't make the first team, perhaps the B team

In any case before jumping in to ED we would have to play more with other clans and stuff don't you reckon? Maybe my skill would come up to standard then
