dMr LFS forum hierarchy

Hi. I'm thinking that the hierarchy of the forum is a bit too deep. Most of the discussions are under LFS Combos, but some are under Dead Men Racing and some under Live for Speed. To get an overall view of what's been talked about, you have to go and check all these folders. Since the forum is not getting so many posts per day, I think that the flatter hierarchy would work ok. I'm suggesting that LFS Combos be removed and those threads be put under Live for Speed.

One reason for me suggesting this is that I'm reading forums >50% of the time with a mobile phone, and although reading is ok, browsing through forum is not so good. (I'm travelling to work by bus and those 20 minutes I usually spend reading LFS and dMr forums).

Current categories are very well chosen and they would be necessary if the forum would be very active, but at the current state I think it would be more practical to have LFS Combos removed.

I just use the "new posts" button and pick out the bits that I am interested in.

I've just spent a while perusing the forum and to me it seems ok. Given that we started with GTL and moved to LFS it doesn't look too messy. LFS Combos could conceivably be renamed but as out whole format is based on different combos each week I think it's not too out of order. Most discussions are going to emanate from one combo or another. As Armitage says. (where have I seen that name before?) Click on 'New posts' and pick the ones that may interest you. It's what I do as well.
Anyway, browsing the web on a mobile phone? Is that not slow and expensive? :blink:

It's pretty fast with Opera Mini, just for reading forums. I dont' know what it costs, but with Opera Mini I get about 10MB transferred per month. Using Mini the page is first loaded to a server hosted by Opera.com, then the images are resized and re-compressed and who knows what is done, but the size of the page is compressed to about 60kB. If 60kB is not enough then the page is split into two or more pages.
