Tactical bomb planting as T

Tactical planting sounds weird, but it is really very important. By planting the bomb in the right place will make it easy for you to protect it from being defused and hard for the CTâ€™s to defuse. Planting the bomb in a hidden location e.g. behind a box is usually good in the perspective that you are less exposed to enemy fire while planting. But at the same time the CT that starts to defuse the bomb is also less exposed. If possible plant the bomb in a location that could be accessed from many different directions. This will make it harder on the CTâ€™s that are defending the defusing CT. Also if you plant the bomb in an open space you can move further away from the bombsite and still guard the bomb.

On de_train you can either plant under a carriage or on top of it. If you are sure that you are well covered by team mates while you are planting then plant on top. This means that you will easily be able to attack a CT if they try to diffuse.

There are several advantages to planting underneath. The first is that you are undercover while you are planting. This means it is a good idea to plant here if your team mates are still engaging the defenders. Secondly, it makes it hard for a CT to spot the bomb, particularly if they have never seen that hiding place used. It is an excellent tactic to â€˜hideâ€™ the bomb like this if you can find an unusual spot to plant it in. The more time they spend looking for it, the more likely it will explode. Lastly, it means that you can hide there in the dark with the bomb. Sometimes a CT will not spot you hiding there and you can kill him as he tries to diffuse. On standard maps like this everyone is expecting this, but it can still work.

Planting on top of boxes is another common tactic. The benefit of this is that it takes a CT longer to climb up the boxes and defuse the bomb, as well as making them vulnerable to your fire. The downside is that this also applies to you when you are planting. In general you should only do this when you know there are no defenders nearby.

Remember that it is cheating to plant anywhere where the bomb can not be defused. This is exploiting a map flaw and is punishable on most servers.

There are many other tactics to play with regarding planted bombs. As a T you can plant the bomb then go hide round a corner. When you hear the sound of the bomb being diffused pop round and shoot the CT as he is facing the floor defusing. To counter this CTâ€™s can start defusing but then stop immediately and ambush any Ts trying to ambush them. Obviously this is much easier if you have bought a defuse kit. They only cost $200 and are well worth the money.

On de_inferno it is possible to plant by the boxes facing the balcony. If planted there the bomb could be covered from balcony, sniperhouse area, and sand pit.
We have used this in a match recently with great success. Can't remember now who was the killer on the balcony on our team.

i find on inferno that planting at the new site just in line with the steps allows a good line of sight from the ct spawn area rather than planting behind a box where it is hard to counter the diffuse

the other site i tend to place it almost on the target allowing all areas to cover....if i plant it ill be under the little wooden walkway btw so watch out when u try to diffuse

i would say if u have planted it ........tell others where it is so they can hold position and do not have to come and take a look then decide where the best place is to cover ......

on roadhouse if u can get the truck down to the bomb site then plant on hte bonnet of the truck and drive it away. we did this the other night and they obviously couldnt find the bomb!

The idea is to make it hard for the CTs to cover when defusing.

I know its a map flaw but that has a coolness factor of 10 in my book

Also parking the car over the bomb is usefull

theres another good one on de_train. In the more covered site nearest ct spawn if you plant on top of the train at the end nearest the CT spawn you can cover it from just inside CT spawn on the one side, firing between the carriages. It makes a change from the normal hiding under trains, although that is still particularly effective

Some new additions to this thread.

On Inferno you can actually plant on the corner as seen in the image below. There is a very small spot where the bomb icon is active. It is a bit tricky and I don't recommend this spot if you are under pressure.

However there are some tactical advantages for this spot. As you can see in the images below the bomb is accessible from many directions.

On dust2 you can at bombsite A sit on the wall surounding the bomb site when you plant. If you do it correctly you can plant the bomb here for example. There are other possibilities of course ... :ph34r:

On survivor you can try to plant the bomb here. Makes it harder for the CTs to defuse it without cover.
