Ok bit of a silly question. I've done a Steam backup and now I want to use it to restore on my new PC. I've got the *.sid file but how do I restore from it?
I do exactly what the little voices tell me to.

PC Specs:- Black box with some fans that go whirrr, a few lights, things inside that get warm, headphones, keyboard (a clicky one), mouse (with buttons and no squeak), disks (2-off SSD and HDD) and a monitor of sufficient proportions.

If you have the whole folder you can just reinstall steam into it. That's how i do it.
Juggling Hard Disks over concrete floors ends in tears 5% of the time.

Thanks lads. It seems my backup was naff and it didn't include the steambackup.exe file. Your link Duvel explained it all, cheers.

I went back to a backup I did a couple of months ago and that worked OK.
Now copying all the stuff in my useraccount folder across to get the configs and maps.
