Strangest beer (& beer glasses) - Cologne at Xmas

Thought I'd post this up, as this (to a British beer drinker) is wierd...

We went to Cologne for Xmas this year, and the local speciality beer is called Kolsch. It's a strange beer, it tastes like a beer but looks like a lager. But what is even stranger is the tiny glasses it comes in!

They are 0.2ltr *test tubes* (for want of a better way to describe them) - making it almost like a 'sipping beer'. But being the British heathen we are, we were downing them like beer shots! LOL



The strength must've been something like 5+ % - because I found I got plastered quite easily (though I did loose count). Another reason I got lashed on them I guess is the continental practise of putting you bill on a tab!

The waiter marks off your drinks on your beer matt, and you pay when you leave. LOL

Anyway - I highly recommend Cologne to any of you. For food and drink lovers it is fantastic!

I bit of googling shows it at 4.8%

Interesting though.  I've never seen a beer that pale before.

Given they come in such small measures, I suspect you probably ended up sinking rather more than you thought you did.

It looks more like a cider.
