Runga - Level 80 Night Elf Druid

Who are you? Where are you from? How old are you? What kind of work do you do? What's your situation at home like?

I'm Matt Lovatt, I'm 16 years old living in Stoke-On-Trent, an area renowned for low crime rates and beauty (cough : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGs5SlUdX1A) I don't do any work for at least another 8 weeks until I start college (since I've now finished high school), so I suppose the pinnacle of my work atm is making cheesestring sandwiches for dinner. Everything's good at home so no problems there.

What kind of internet connection do you have?

Donââ,¬â,,¢t know specifically but I know it is very reliable and is usually quick!

What are the core specs of your computer?

4GB Ram
Somebody told me I had a good graphics card (?)

How long have you been playing computer games and what kind?

Well in my early youth I always used to play a few of the Sonic the Hedgehog games, favourite being Sonic and Knuckles, where worryingly, my favourite character was the pink one. To this date I have brought all the Fifa games for PS1, PS2 and my Xbox 360, where I used to somehow get a lot of excitement out of slide tackling the goalkeeper and getting sent off, (honestly, I'm more mature now) So for me, a game in the form of WoW was a bit out of the blue in relation to what I normally used to play. But I have gone from harmlessly slide tackling goalkeepers to blowing up towns via nukes in Fallout 3, so my 2 years with WoW has really changed my taste in gaming, edging me more to the RPG's.

What kind of raiding experience do you have?

Oh God, donââ,¬â,,¢t bother. My experience in TBC wasnââ,¬â,,¢t amazing at all. I must have entered that oh so lovely instance Karazhan about a million times (Yet I still struggle to spell it), so an advantage could be that I am VERY up to date on how to work with another 9 people. I did get into gruuls at one point, and I even had an attempt on voidreaver in TK, contain your excitementââ,¬Â¦ Not remarkable I know, but it really does not reflect my ability (honestly!) In WOTLK, nothing has took off yet to date, but I have to start somewhere. Iââ,¬â,,¢ll be honest, Iââ,¬â,,¢ve only done a quarter in Naxx 10, but somehow managed to tank Kelthuzad with a pug as my first adventure there, but we didnââ,¬â,,¢t down him. I havenââ,¬â,,¢t even been into Naxx 25. I have however, completed VoA 10 and 25 (not much better however :p) and I also have done OS 10 and 25.

What other guilds have you been in and why did you decide or were forced to move on?
Well my first guild as Runga was Moms Friendly Guild, which began as a social guild, ran by Amethyst a.k.a Gill, and I was there until I was 70. It wasnââ,¬â,,¢t raiding at that point, so I then moved on to get some raid experience, (little did I know I was about to become best friends with Prince Malchezzar himself, (another name I still cannot spell)). I latched onto what I thought was a great opportunity with a guild called Cool Runnings. It was fun and they were socially great. However, after weââ,¬â,,¢d pushed the boundaries of Karazhan we merged with a guild and that idea I was not keen on, they raided 25 man content, which I was gutted about because it was during a phase where I really was not enjoying WoW. So I left CR, and moved back home to Moms. I was a stand-in raid leader due to my extensive Kara experience and it was great fun raiding with my friends. In WOTLK things did not go to plan, the guild fell apart and I moved to a break-away raiding guild called Kaldorei. Again, lady luck had no interest in me, and they only progressed after I had quit for my GCSEââ,¬â,,¢s, because the guild was only new when I joined. When I came back I wanted a change and a new start, so I joined a guild called Show Your Allegiance, with my friend, he got kicked a few days later and left me all alone. So I spoke to Gill on msn and she told me there may be an opening here and I should give it a try, so here I am.

Do you actively play any alts that we could find you in in case we need to contact you?

Unbearable my level 14 mage (yes!)

What are your plans for the game?

To eventually get past the first raid in the gameââ,¬Â¦

In what way would you like others to know you?

A reliable and fun guy. I want to be of some importance to a guild, and thatââ,¬â,,¢s maybe why I chose to be a tank because of the importance surrounding that role.

Tell us about your personality, and why you enjoy the game.

Why do I enjoy the game? Good question. I donââ,¬â,,¢t actually know, for some reason I used to love farming cleft hoof leather for hours on my hunter, weirdââ,¬Â¦I know. I mainly just love pulling together with my friends or others in a raid or instance, the success that comes from it is really satisfying, as is overcoming an obstacle that has been present for so long.

Name one thing you don't like about WoW in its current state.

Have a feeling it has become a bit too easy. That patch in level 70 made mobs laughably easy, and Iââ,¬â,,¢m in it for a challenge. As have I endured challenges that a lot of newcomers wonââ,¬â,,¢t ever have to face, which is slightly annoying.

Your character

Why did you decide to play this class?

The ability to change forms sounded great to me, coupled with the versatility of druids made me really excited about levelling a druid.

What do you think your class' role is in raid content?

Make things look ugly with my paws and to save a few lives along the way as a big bear.

Comment on your build. Why did you choose it? What do you think of other builds of your class? Why didn't you choose one of those? (important question)
I was sick of being a DPS amongst many others, I wanted a change and I wanted a role with more importance. Iââ,¬â,,¢m a tank because I get a lot of satisfaction from the success, and I wonââ,¬â,,¢t lie, I donââ,¬â,,¢t mind credit that comes with it. It makes me feel good :D And seriously, angry owls and dancing trees? How realistic is thatââ,¬Â¦

In all honestly, being a healer doesnââ,¬â,,¢t attract me because Iââ,¬â,,¢d rather be amongst the action than stood behind at all, and being caster DPS seems no better than levelling mage, for me it would defeat the object of levelling my druid (for my reasons)

This guild

What do you look for in a guild?

I look for a good, social atmosphere, and approachable people. People that lend a hand but then that kindness is also repaid. Generally a good team that is serious and can pull together when needed but is also a whole lot of fun on top of that.

''Dead Men Raiding'' - What comes to mind when you see that guild name?

Dead men that raid.

There are other guilds on the server, why did you apply to us?

Admittedly, a lot of this is down to the fact my best friends are here. I loved raiding with Amethyst, Bassoon and Airam and Iââ,¬â,,¢d like to do that again. They rave about the guild and I want to see what all the fuss is about! You sound successful and fun at the same time, a rare combination, and I want to atke up this opportunity.

Who do you know in Dead Men Raiding? How do you know them?

Airam, Bassoon and Gill. Airam and Bassoon are my best mates IRL and we went to high school together. I have been with them for most of my WoW days in Moms Friendly Guild and Amethyst was the GM at Moms Friendly Guild. Gill is my WoW mother if you like and taught me lots about the game when I joined and all three of us have stuck by each other throughout the game.

Have you read our 'what we look for' and 'philosophy' posts? What do you think of them?

Yep and I wholeheartedly agree with what is said there. I like the idea that ââ,¬Å"well oiled machines run on common senseââ,¬Â, something I do agree with. However, itââ,¬â,,¢s going to be hard for me to completely eliminate ââ,¬Å"lolââ,¬Â out of my game, it really is a polite way of saying ââ,¬Å"youââ,¬â,,¢re not funnyââ,¬Â and it seems a lot kinder J

Annoying questions

A guildie says something you find offensive, what do you do?

Iââ,¬â,,¢m quite passive so unless it was about something really personal to me, then Iââ,¬â,,¢d keep quiet and move on. However, if it was something really personal, then Iââ,¬â,,¢d probably switch into bear form and enrage.

Cake or Pie?

Who ate all the pies? Apparently me according to my friends. On the contrary, I prefer CAKE, especially chocolate! Why? Do I get some sort of introductory offer if Iââ,¬â,,¢m initiated? :D
