You heard it here first.

Quote from: TeaLeaf, 19th October 2008;247854For those looking for the FIA to provide some balance in the sport:

I just heard that Jean Todt will be taking up a very senior position in the FIA next season.

So, all F1 teams will be equal, but some will be more equal than others.

and now a year later:

24th October 2009
Todt is newly elected FIA President

Wow, one year and five days and its true. How could you know that? Did you read it in the, ahem, tea leaves?:getmecoat:

Nontheless, The poison dwarf (Ecclescake) reaction is....
"As far as Formula One is concerned, Todt's the right man for the job, He knows all our problems and I'm sure he is not going to interfere at all. "

Not going to interfere???:roflmao:. Read "not going to have a say in the matter"

It saddens me that the appointment of Todt, sorry I meant to say election, was known about a year ago in the pit lane.  In the pit lane the pre-appointment/election favourite was Ari Vatanen not Todt and many voting countries had indicated support for Vatanen, yet somehow Todt got a landslide victory and the wide-spread support for Vatanen seemed to just disappear.

Clearly there were concerns beforehand about the election procedure.  Max Mosley & Bernie Eccelstone both campaigned for Todt and issued some typically vitriolic statements about Vatanen, so I guess that like Mosley's previous roles when he talked to other countries about who they would be voting for he included his preferred whips & spanking threats.  Along the way both Ecclestone & Mosley broke the law governing the elections, but that rarely seems to bother them.

So the Ferrari favouritism continues.  I wonder what other under the table agreements Ferrari have with Ecclestone & Todt now in charge at the FIA?  The admission of the rules veto that Ferrari were secretly granted by the FIA seems to have been almost forgotten, but to me it was a staggering admission of guilt & collusion and one that just seems to have been ignored with no follow up or punishment - and now we have a ex-Ferrari FIA President.  Yes he is ex-Ferrari, but if you broke Todt in half like a stick of rock it would say 'Scuderia'.

How independent and unbiaised can this arrangement be and what other secret FIA-Ferrari agreements might there be that we do not yet know about?
