I reckon 2 or 3 5970s should be sufficent.

Looks great. Wonder how low DX-types you can play that with? Sub DX10 dead now?

Jabbs

That looks sweet - would be worth getting it for the graphics alone!  Though my PC won't play it I'm sure!

Ive read that DX11 stuff is more backward compatable than DX10, the graphics functions and goodies in the later stuff just dont work.

Actually that is not Crysis 2, but screenshots from CryEngine 2 which was used in Crysis. And those Screenshots are from mods and custom configs. As you can see it can still do miracles :)

DX11 is backward compatible with both DX10 and 9 no extra programming is required so microsoft and ati say.  I hate to say it but crysis 2 is a console/pc hybrids so those screen shots "may" not be as good as they look when it comes down to pc game play much less interaction then the last crysis games,  Both previous games when ran on full tilt did look like that anyway but did need a powerplant to power the gfx to make it look like it.

DX11 is backward compatible with DX10. There's a video of a tech demo where they switch between the two to show the differences with wiremodels and adding 3D textures to things like cobble floors. It actually generates a 3D surface from the 2D (or that's what the video appears to show).

As for the screen shots, some are very nice, some are Far Cry 2 standard and some on par with Stalker games, and in no way are any of those statements negative. Maxed out those games look stunning, but they all have the environment they suit best. This look like it's starting to handle Far Cry 2 type lighting nicely, and getting towards Stalker type grass land areas. If it's not ruined by the console developers (as if you watch videos of the engines developers they strongly hint they are doing) it could be stunning.
Juggling Hard Disks over concrete floors ends in tears 5% of the time.

Those screenshots made my PC cry :(
