Planetside 2 review

The bit that struck me was this..

But when I don’t have those friends on tap, PlanetSide 2 becomes a different game. A quieter game. It’s still astounding to look at, but it’s also a more aimless, frustrating experience. Stand and stare up at the game’s lights again. It’s a lot less lonely when you can call out some of the lights’ names. Play PlanetSide 2 alone and you’re a tiny cog in one of three war machines, easily killed and rudderless: a feeling hammered in when the area of map you fought and died over yesterday to turn to your empire’s side has fallen back into enemy hands while you were tucked up in bed. War moves quickly, and it’ll move without you.

Maybe we should make a concerted effort to join the same team and use TS etc. to spread the dMw love.

I agree. Planetside 2 is not a game I would play solo - imagine turning up in a real life warzone with a gun and trying to fight for your side, that's pretty much how I imagine it would be - chaotic and disorganised.  Not to mention that even jumping into a random squad makes it so much more fun, never mind a properly organised squad/platoon.

I'm playing as Terran Republic on Miller, player name Pixy, rank 20.  Eurydome was a beta server and doesn't exist any more.

It's rather good, but near impossible to play as a lone wolf. I suspect this will put many people off at first (especially if you're used to BF3), but it's worth giving it an extended go - if you can get a decent platoon leader shouting orders at people it's one of the best games going.
