We, Dead Men Walking, are a clan that as well as participating in matches, are part of a wider community that play CS in a way as defined by our PCS rules and guidelines.
  • The clan is lead by Oldbloke and TeaLeaf.
  • PCS is administered by Oldbloke, TeaLeaf, Sadako, JAS, Albert, Smite, Gandalf and Fatbob who also take on the role of Squad Leader for our matches.
  • We have two servers that are hosted and administered by our two founding-fathers DogMeat and Stryker.
We're sure you can appreciate the time and effort required to provide the facilities that this clan and the PCS community enjoys.

For a bunch of unpaid volunteers we think we do a damn fine job. Members of the dMw can, with the exception of having to keep their availability current, sit on their hands and reap the rewards. That is if they so desire, but most clan members, we're glad to say, take an active part in both the clan and the wider PCS community where we have many non-dMw regulars.  We also have one of the most active forums this side of a commercial website's forums.

So why are we talking about change when everything we've just mentioned seems to paint a nice rosey picture? Because we want to grow the PCS community. We want more people playing CS the way we want it played. We want both our servers packed to the rafters every night.

So where are these people? Well they're out there and we've let them know about PCS and told them how rewarding it is and how they'll grow to prefer it over deathmatch and how they should read the forums and sign up to play ... but most of them don't. In fact the vast majority don't.  We are convinced that they are put off by the sheer wordiness and regimentation of our current PCS rules and also (this may surprise you) by the title 'Professional Counter Strike'.  We have some evidence to back this up, gleaned when we last pimped PCS in the major CS forums.

So, in a nutshell, here are the changes that will be implemented in the near future.
  • PCS will be re-launched as TCS (Tactical Counter-Strike) with a new set of guidelines. The term 'Professional Counter-Strike' does not accurately describe our style of play and has dissuaded players from trying it in the past. Our present PCS Guidelines are far too heavyweight and just as likely to put off new members.  Tactical CS is a better description of the way we play.  Now we have an experienced PCS community, we do not need to be as prescriptive in the TCS guidelines.

  • Dead Men Walking will become a community-based clan. By making -=[dMw]=- a badge of community it will formally recognise the fact that people want to play TCS in preference to deathmatch CS.

  • We will have a multi-tiered membership structure. We need to provide a structure that recognises and values the skills and commitment that members bring to the community. In the past, members have left or become inactive purely because we fail to do this appropriately.  So we will deliver a structure where players whose main aim is to enjoy the fellowship offered by the community will have that environment, whilst those also interested in formal CS competition will have that opportunity too.

  • The old forum will be converted to the IPB forum. A new look and feel will highlight the changes mentioned above. IPB gives us that new look and, as well as having some very nice new fuctionality, it allows us the ability to devolve more forum responsibility to moderators. (This has now been completed)

  • The new TCS Guidelines and the community structure are being drawn up now. When they have been ratified by the admins they will be posted to the forum and all reference to PCS will be substituted by TCS. At the same time we will pimp TCS in all the major CS forums. The new TCS guidelines will emphasise the team nature and objective based style of play that we enjoy today, but they will be simpler, shorter and attract players to TCS not deter.
A few may be concerned about these changes. Do not fear change. Stagnation is far more destructive. Clans come and go but this clan is
strong and has a hard-won top-notch reputation within the CS community for fairness, professionalism and 'cool'. Everyone can be proud of that.

Thank you for letting us know what is going on. It is appreciated  8)

PS you are dead right about the "Professional" bit - it nearly put me off (maybe you should reconsider having divulged that bit)

I agree with Gabby Johnson, 'Proffesional' made me think I wasn't good enough for you. I have since learned that I am WELL good enough!  ;)

oh we like change, especially for the better, Tactical CS is a good start.

a better start would be a guideline that partners have to sign saying im allowed to play counterstrike all night at least once a week
