Hi Guys,

So I got my super computer up and running and finally wanted to hammer some L4D2 since I have owned it for ages and now been able to play but I get this error on steam and can't seem to get around it.

Anyone else got or solved this problem?

Or has any idea?

I thought that this was an informational message and if you click 'continue anyway' the game should run.
I am surprised that the GTX460 is not in their database.
You could click 'update details' so they get it added to their database.

Have you tried clicking 'continue anyway' and does the game run?

Otherwise you could buy a proper graphics card like a Radeon ;o)
I do exactly what the little voices tell me to.

PC Specs:- Black box with some fans that go whirrr, a few lights, things inside that get warm, headphones, keyboard (a clicky one), mouse (with buttons and no squeak), disks (2-off SSD and HDD) and a monitor of sufficient proportions.

Click continue anyway, failing that grab new drivers.
Juggling Hard Disks over concrete floors ends in tears 5% of the time.

Tried both

Just get another error message about the game failing to start

Sounds like a common problem with the 400 series cards not being fully supported, most answers that google turns up suggest that just clicking don't display again & hitting continue anyway should allow you to play the game regardless, so I guess the real thing is why does it fail to start once you've tried to continue.

erm I've never had any problems with Steam or any games running 460 GTX in sli...

Might be worth going into your directory for the game and removing or renaming the "video.txt" file so that the game defaults to the original settings and allows you to rebuild the video config.

Sounds like there's something in there it doesn't like on the new card, you'll still get the warning, as I still do with my HD6870, but it should continue and let you into the game at least.

?:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\cfg\video.txt

Also verify your game cache.

Thanks for the advice guys, I sorted it but updating driver (again) and deleting and re-installing the game..
Now for some zombie action!
