Too true about BF3 Single Player. Some coop missions too, for that matter...

I really do hate those...

Edit: Not a really busy day back at work, my to-do list has been empty for an hour, and I'm surfing the webcomic some more. They do take nice stabs at some other of my pet peeves in FPS games.
(And I use George Carlin's definition of pet peeves. I don't have them. I have major psychotic breaks :D)

The poison seepage of "consolism" into PC games.

Save-points instead of SAVE/QUICKSAVE. Few to no configuration options. Lots of "you're too stupid to read a manual, so I'll flash giant keys/controller symbols on the screen to remind the monkey which button gets a banana". And your pet hate and mine - the "click random (and 4 is random?!) buttons on a timer to do something", which a blind monkey with a stopwatch could do...

Give us "save". Give us configuration. Leave us to read the manual (we can read). Stop scripting everything, only train simulators should be on rails! And for heaven's sake if Batman needs to kick the Joker's face in, let's use kick/punch/duck/jump/spin/dive in any damn way WE like and not stop the whole event while we are made to press three buttons on a timer! Talk about killing the moment...

And give us modding. Desert Combat mod -  the progenitor of BattleField 2 and the reason Battlefield exists as a series and is not just a game released way back in 2001 that everyone forgot - was created because DICE and BattleField 1942 supported modding!

DLC is fine on the housebricks? doorstops? no, consoles (it was on the tip of my tongue), but real money is made by allowing modding. Instead of having to peddle some third-rate cobbled-together DLC that sells for £5 in the first year, you can continue to sell the original game at full price for years, because modders are making quality free mods which make people want to buy and it doesn't cost the developer a penny.

Re-instate PC gaming as it should be.

Hear hear! This man speaks the truth!

Truthfully I cant remember the last 'True Fps' that has the features you mentioned, Half life 2 maybe?

A sad state of afairs

Still the MP of Bf3 3 is pretty damned good :)
it\'s not my fault if every one runs into my sights :D:byebye::roflmao:

Valve realised a long time ago that modding is good for business. They essentially let gifted amateurs come up with good products which Valve can then license and sell (see Day Of Defeat & Counterstrike - 25 million units sold).

Hopefully quick-time events are a fad that will die off. They are incredibly lazy mechanisms.

TTT, I miss those games. L4D2 is probably the closest atm, with downloadable missions. I still remember the good old days of Counter-strike alpha. That is how you make a game. Just imagine the mods you could have with the BF3 engine!

Yeah, we never did see that flurry of Half-Life 2 mods that were promised. Not any huge ones at least. Natural Selection was fun for a while, but lacked finish and finesse.
I miss Action Half-Life.

Additionally, I do support Arithon and Lionheart in their respective bids for the crown of England, as long as they don't interfere with my upcoming powergrab in the nordic region :D
