Just looking for a laptop I could get my hands on quickly that's cheap-ish and can run BF3.

Min system requirement:
[LIST=|INDENT=1]
  • Processor: Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz or Althon X2 2.7 GHz
  • RAM: 2GB
  • Graphic card: DirectX 10 or 11 compatible Nvidia or AMD ATI card, ATI Radeon 3870 or higher, Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT or higher.
  • Graphics card memory: 512 MB
I've been looking at:
Asus K53E-SX963V This seems fine but I'm unsure about the Graphics being Intel HD Graphics 3000, would that be good enough? It doesn't speicify the graphics memory either...
Asus K53E-SX087V Seems at the very bottom of possibilities, the Processor might not be good enough (i3 2.13 GHz), and the same issue with the graphics...

I'm not looking for masses of HD space, but it's mainly about having 4gig RAM, with a decent processor and a Graphics card memory around 512MB but preferably 1 gig.

Thanks for any help fellas.

I wouldnt recommand BF3 a intel HD3000, its onboard, and good for about hmmm nothing..
You need to find one with a dedicated GPU.

MY laptop runs BF3 nicely, but as soon it goes a little crazy i drop a fair amount of FPS and my specs are i5 2410, 4 gig ram (been upgraded to 8 later, but BF3 is the same) dedicated GF 540M 2Gb

Yea I thought that might be the case.

This Acer Aspire 5745DG looks pretty good. £599.

Dedicated GPU:
NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 425M - 1GB DDR3 memory.
Intel® Coreâ,,¢ i3-380M Processor- 2.53 GHz
4GB RAM

Or would it be worth coughing up and extra £100 for something slightly better?

HP Pavilion dv6-6156ea

AMD Radeon HD 6490M - 1 GB Dedicated Memory
Coreâ,,¢ i5-2410M - 2.3 Ghz
6GB RAM
250MB extra HD space.

Or the i5 version of the ASUS N55SF Sulky posted

NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 555M
Intel® Coreâ,,¢ i5-2430M - 2.4GHz
6GB RAM

Actually tried it on a i5 with a 425 today, in my book it was unplayable...

By looking at the charts at notebookcheck, the 555M is in most cases nearly twice as fast as the 6490, so if your looking for a laptop for gaming, id go for the 555M setup

That is the i7 version of the Asus mentioned ;) I may consider that one myself actually, for the October LAN.

I would get it if I could get it within the next week but it's 5 weeks delivery and other sites is 2 months. Looking to get one asap.

I think I'm gunna go pick up the i5 version for £699 tomorrow, so much for keeping it at the £500 mark!

The i5 version should do you nicely too.. the cpu handles bf3 nicely with a good dedicated GPU

Indeed, and as for staying under £500 mark, was always gonna be difficult, but you do get get what you pay for plus more ya spend now can make a difference later for making your laptop/desktop last that one game longer before having to upgrade/buy fresh depending on age.
