Guys - some help if you can:

Just installed a Belkin Bluetooth adaptor to sync up my laptop and home pc (mainly outlook funtions; calendar, email, contacts, etc).

My problem is that when trying to sync (both bluetooth adaptors are found ok) it says my laptop has a PIM (Personal Info Manager ) installed but my home comp doesn't.

Is it that I have XP professional on laptop and xp home on the desktop?  Or is it something else that I can work around?  This seems to be the only thing not allowing me to sync.

Any serious comments appreciated.

P.S can anyone recommend a good wireless keyboard?

Install a PIM (Personal Info Manager ) on your Home PC

I use one of the belkin adaptors to link my pc and phone and have had no problems with it at all. I'm running xppro. Make sure you have installed the belkin software correctly as I'm sure it contains a PIM as part of the package.

Any recommendations?  Preferably free (but doesn't have to be) and compatible with the setup I've described above.

I was kidding mate. You mean you actually don't have a PIM on the PC? Well you've a snowballs chance in hell of synching anything without one cheif. What exactly is the synch software going to do with the data you're trying to copy??

So yep you need a PIM on your PC. And it needs to be compatiable with Outlook on your laptop. Of course the sweet folk at Microsoft would love you to go out and buy a nice new copy of Microsoft Outlook for your home PC at the very reasonable price of just shy of a £100. With that in mind they've done everything they can to make it incompatiable with anything else. So unless you can get a second hand copy or get lucky on Google, then you're up poo river without an oar.

Then again I have Microsoft Office Pro 97 (including Outlook 97) that you can have for nowt, assuming it's compatiable with your new laptop version. I would guess it is?

Hmmmm - I have outlook 2000 running fine (on both machines - and both can sync with a pda).  I think therefore that I have made an error in the install process of this bluetooth malarkey and I'll just start again.

There goes another weekend afternoon (sigh)

Thanks anyway though for the pointers :)

Ah so you do indeed have a compatiable PIM on each machine.

Assuming you're linking from the Laptop to the PC (i.e. the Laptop is initiating the synch) then you should try to re-estanlish the link. You may have to bin the old one as as you say start from scratch.
