Guys - some help if you can.  I have a Radeon 9700 (not the top of the line pro version but the one below that - cant remember the code)

Problem is that I occassionally get a lot of random triangles appearing on screen.  They vary in size and colour, and seem totally random as they flash in and out.  The problem does't cause any major problem (I can still easily play a game).  Its just annoying :(

It's almost as if parts of the background are flashing through (can't describe it very well, sorry).  It is always triangles, and no other shapes.  It doesnt happen on every game (games where it definately does happen are Splinter cell, freelancer, and call of duty.  Games where it doesn't happen are AVP2, CS, Jedi Academy)

To be honest it's always occured but I never bothered that much.  Just thought I'd have a go at sorting it on a whim really.

My setup:  2.5ghz intel p4, 9700 ati radeon, 768 mb, windows xp home, all the latest ati drivers.

If you can't help can you recommend some good video card techy forums where I can post up some further requests for advice.
If I wanted you to understand I would have explained it better

Could be several reasons - the two top answers are:

1. It could be a poorly coded game where the graphics aren't being rendered properly.
2. It could be that the card is overclocked too much and is causing "dropout" <- My personal favourite as I've seen it  a lot.

Other poss causes are a dodgy drivers, a duff card, inadequate cooling, inadequate power or your eyes need checked :)

a) I don't think its the games - others would report it
B) I have not overclocked it at all - straight out of the box with factory defaults
c) I've tried several drivers to no avail
d) cooling should not be an issue with this setup (plus the problem is game specific)
e) I've tried unplugging usbs and other peripherals but didnt do squat
f) my eyes were checked less than six months ago

Are you sure it is not the games/drivers? I know Splinter Cell had a lot of graphical artefacts with earlyier Detonator versions and the release level of Splinter Cell. The splinter Cell update patch plus newer drivers got rid of that. It could be a similar prob with your ATI card.
