I started this as a separate thread as Odd's request to switch to a monk was raised in the main recruitment thread.   Here's my take on it plus my views on other aspects:

Odd's Monk is not even close to 90, let alone geared to raid, so as and until he gets to 90 and gets very well repped and geared, him on a monk is not even an option.   He's L65 at the moment and the last thing you want to do is swap a poorly geared tank into the raid.

Unfortunately, my confidence in Odd's ability to gear a monk is affected very much by his seeming inability to gear his current main.  His DK is still only i469 and his reputation progress is simply appalling:

Golden Lotus - 1,500/12,000 into Honoured
Klaxxi - 6,000/12,000 into Honoured
Shado Pan - 4,000/6,000 Friendly
August Celestials - Neutral

He's missing at least 3 x i489 VP items and a further i489 from the Klaxxi quest chain.   That's 4 items at i489 which would replace i463 and make one hell of a difference to his tanking DPS and survivability.

He's not wearing a single piece of Valor Point gear so far as I can see - does this really mean he has earned no valor points since the expansion was released?  His activity log suggests he is not doing heroics at all and his rep says he is not earning VP via daily quests.

He's a 600 JC but not wearing a single JC gem?

All in all it's a pretty sad state of affairs for someone wanting to be a main tank.

Saw Odd in-game just now so had a quick chat with him on TS.   Managed to do it in a friendly way and he is going to focus on getting his rep sorted and get some VP gear.

When I spoke with him about the monk I was led to believe that it was 90.
I should of obviously checked into it more before posting about it. /doh

That's quite shocking with his gear, thanks for taking the time TL to look at his char and chat to him.

You say there is a i489 piece from a quest chain?.... Ooo please where is it? Once you get exalted?

I showed him where to buy the Panda JC recipes today.  He now has those JC-only gem recipes.   I think he now has a clear understanding that he needs to gear up and rep up fast.  I've posted the above Klaxxi list to the general section in case others do not know, it might prompt a bit of rep grinding!

Yes I've realised even though I loathe them I've started my daily grind again.
Tbh I think I just burnt out at the beginning. Now I have newer quests with SP and AC it's given it a little variety.

So.... Mario if you could keep an eye on him and make sure he's doing his quests and gearing/reforging etc that would be great.
