Right my 4 year old Vaio has just about had enough. Graphics card is shot and not really worth having sorted for the money it would cost, so time for a new laptop...

Due to circumstances i can afford around £600-650, but i can only get through littlewoods on the never never!

Just wanted some opinion as to if this was a fairly decent spec for the money....

Asus X75VC ....£650

•Intel® Coreâ,,¢ i5-3230 Processor
•8Gb DDR3 RAM
•1Tb SATA Hard Drive
•17.3in 16:9 HD+ (1600x900) LED Backlight Display
•BluRay DVD Combo Drive
•Dedicated NVidia® GeForce® GT720 Graphics with 2Gb DDR3 VRAM
•Integrated HD Webcam
•802.11 b/g/n WiFi; Bluetooth v4.0
•USB 2.0; USB 3.0; HDMI; 2 in 1 card reader
•Built-in Altec Lansing® Speakers
•Microsoft Windows 8

The reviews ive found all give it 4.5+ out of 5, it has £100 of it atm so need to decide soonish.

Cheers

IMO...

This is based on my (i5, 4Gb ram, radeon 5650) VAIO, also maybe 4 years old, which I upgraded to an SSD recently.

I assume this laptop is not for games? I would guess that the 720 GPU will not be strong enough for decent res in most games and you will want to upgrade again v.soon.

Otherwise the i5 is probably fine for most tasks, but less future proof than an i7. In my experience, an SSD makes a huge difference to general usability, startup, and non-games ... For me most games perform similarly, even on load times - I still load them all off a 5400 HDD.

The games i play dont require alot of power....World of warcraft, diablo, starcraft to name a few....
