Forum housekeeping and access issues to Boss Compendiums

Just for a short while the Boss Compendium section of the forum will not be viewable. This is a temporary issue due to a few changes I'm making and a bit of housekeeping. Sorry for that but you're not missing anything very exciting :norty:

While its viewable now, and i've seen posts and replies in the boss compendiums, is there a reason why i cannot reply to posts there ?

On sunday I found a nice trick/animation for Durumu and was about to post it in the Boss Compendiums when I noticed that I (as social) no longer can see Boss Compendiums. Can you please clarify what has been done and what ranks in Dead Men Raiding it is affecting?

Sure no problem.

We currently have

Guild Leader (Game Leader Gold badge) Access to all areas of the WOW forum section including DMR Members Only and Boss Compendium
Raid Officers (Red Admins WOW badge) Access to all areas of the WOW forum section including DMR Members Only and Boss Compendium
Guild Raiders (Blue Raiders WOW badge) Access to all areas of the WOW forum section including DMR Members Only and Boss Compendiumo
Guild Members (Green Social WOW badge) Access to all areas of the WOW forum section including DMR Members Only but not Boss Compendiums.

As to why it's been done I'll let a Guild Officer cover that one as I just carried out the forum change.

As per Smilo's post above, and on the request of the DMR Officers, this is now only viewable by DMR members which are current Raiders. These are those with a blue raiding badge.

Can I be a pain and ask why?....

There is the very slim chance rgt may need me or another previous raider so they can raid 1 night... I won't be able to read the tips and other posts. Yes videos can be found but its the actual comments I find more useful....

Also you have slush's comment... He's a social yet still helping the raids and looking for information on the net. Spending his time to research for a fight and share what he's found....

Yet he can't....

The change was made to allow us to keep social members in the guild who raid on another toon elsewhere. We used to remove all characters from the guild when someone took a character out to raid elsewhere but we want to encourage the social side by allowing players to keep characters in DMR whilst also raiding with other guilds.

At the same time we don't want other raid guilds we may be competing with getting the benefit of all our hard work.

After we put rgw on hold we have a number of people forced to look for raiding elsewhere. The general rule from day one was we only have people playing mains within the guild. We have become bigger since then , people have made relationships within the guild and enjoy it here but we cant accommodate the raiding. Officers agree its unfair to remove alts if they are forced to find raiding elsewhere.
Our thinking is to relax this rule and keep people within the community as they wish. It also allows friends to join that may raid elsewhere... Thats the easy bit and its all win on the social side

The tricky bit comes regarding raids. We do to some degree compete with other guilds for first kills. The boss compendium maybe 99% the rantings constantly wiping madmen but every now and again we get little gems of info that could be of use to other guilds that we are competitive with. That seems a bit unfair considering the efforts the raid puts in to get the kills

We are still looking at how much of the compendiums people do/don't see. Current Tier/boss/not at all is still under review. The forum structure at the mo makes it all or nothing
