Having just come back from the cinema I thought I'd give my impression of this film which is a follow up from Kick Ass

IMDb: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1650554/

I think sequel are always hard to do....more often than not the sequel falling blow par from the original film, If you haven't seen Kick Ass (1) I would say go and watch it, it's one of the only few films Nicholas Cage has starred in that I can say he does a really good acting job (bar con air and face off).

So back onto Kick Ass 2 while I admit I'm not really a fan of Nicholas Cage I do feel like this squeal missed him as he played such an awesome character in the first movie, that said even if you did'nt see the first movie you could still go and see this and be able to follow the storyline (I went with my brother whom did'nt see Kick Ass).

That said the "back up guy" is Jim Carrey whom plays an ex-mafia hit-man - of which he plays really well, this is not a typical role I'd expect him to play he almost looks unrecognizable in this role which really made me appreciate his role more again feeling a sense of sadness at his short stint in the film.

If you're thinking that this is a run of the mill big budget blockbuster with lots of great names you'd be wrong....if you're thinking this is one of those sad geeky comic book flicks...you'd be wrong (in my opinion), just like the Kick Ass this movie offers up a great comedic factor having sat amongst a varied aged audience the comedic factor carried though all ages whom enjoyed it though lots of laughter , it's also a 15 not a 12A which means it's got that added bite of really quite good action/fight scenes/ gore without going too OTT much like tarantino has done a bit with his films, swearing (it's not too bad on this and it adds to the comedic factor in a lot of parts so not much malice involved there) and the story line is really rather good being unpredictable which is not always easy to achieve.

Unfortunately this is a sequel and sequel are never better than the original right? sadly...in this case yes, I feel like something was missing not quite sure what that something is, but if you are unsure as to see this film I'd definitely recommend it and would give it a 4/5.

I think this is my first review/opinion given of a film so go easy on me...I did'nt want to go too much into it as I feel like I'm giving it away almost.

I can put you in touch with an ex-girlfriend if it helps?  (Predictive writing sucks sometimes doesn't it!)

I actually quite enjoyed the original, cheeese and all, so I will probably take time to see this at some point as I liked the humour.   A lot of it came from Nicholas Cage though so I'm not sure how the Jim Carrey substitution will work for me as I've always found him too OTT for my taste.

Anyway, nice first review DD :)

It's not you're typical OTT performance from Carrey TL but still he doesn't make up for Cage but a good second best.
