Ziley

Hey everybody!

I'm Ziley and joined this great community a few months back through dMr. Now, on top of raiding in WoW I also enjoy playing League of Legends.
So I was wondering if anyone else play the game on EU West, are level 30 and would be interested in making a ranked 5v5 team.

I'm looking for people who want to be at least reasonably serious (not practice schedule and aiming for diamond 1 serious, but people who would want to play fairly regularly). The aim is of course still to have a good time while doing our best to see how far we can get in the ranked leagues.

A bit about who would be eligible: Everyone who plays LoL at a regular basis and who has preferably played at level 30 for some time.
Personally, I've about 600 normal wins and play ranked solo queue in the gold league (gold 5 at the time of writing).

So if anyone's interested in giving it a bash and getting the dMw tag out there in the LoL scene, I'll look forward to your replies! :D

Cheers,
Ziley

Post necrophilia aside, I was wondering if anyone was playing this game at the moment?

I have been looking into starting with it, Have played before a few games but no more than that. I have also been considering if I should change my server since I have an account on Nordic/East but West might be more commonly used here

I don't play it myself, but it came up in a list of games most played last month so I wondered if anyone here did and if we had the numbers whether we did anything more to support.

Ziley, do you still play?

Im tempted to start ... I enjoy DOAT2 and it looks very similar

I do indeed still play it, but be advised, as is normal with these kinds of games, it takes a good while to get into them and they rely heavily on knowledge of the game's mechanics and what other characters are able to do.
It's still a ton of fun though, especially with a premade team, since you then avoid the community that can be fairly horrible at times.

Worth a try in my honest opinion, I definitely prefer it to other games in the genre (having played most of them) and it's very smooth in almost every aspect.

I think Europe West is definitely the most active server, but they've had issues with the european servers during weekends because of the massive playerbase (I think it more than doubles any other online game at the moment, but don't quote me on that!). They're building a new data center in Europe though, that will fix these issues. Again, once you get into it, it is very hard to put aside. :)

That's dangerous ground to thread! :P

But it obviously comes to personal preference. Personally, I couldn't get into DOTA 2 when I played it. The controls felt sluggish and the graphics made everything fairly unclear in terms of what you had to kill and who was on whose team.
The client is better in DOTA 2 though, as most of the out-of-game stuff is in that game.
However, the gameplay in LoL just feels smoother and more polished, and while the items are more simplistics I feel they make more sense as well. Especially the way that spells work in DOTA 2, where they don't scale with anything feels extremely weird to me. In lol you get Ability Power, which directly increases the damage on your spells and attack damage which increases the damage that your basic attacks (and some spells) deal.

All in all, I much prefer LoL and I actually don't think that DOTA 2 is the second best, I'd put Smite above DOTA. Smite is also fairly easy to get into if you're not used to the MOBA-genre, but it doesn't leave as much room for complexity (at least that's how I feel as a newbie in that game).

They're both quite different in style. I'd say that DOTA2 is more complex, and it's harder to get into at first, but once you've cracked it it's the more rewarding game. There are a huge number of differences, so you're probably best making your own mind up.

I don't like LoL's 'grind to unlock heroes or pay' model. DOTA2 gives you everything up front for free, you can buy cosmetic items from the store but nothing's forced.

Hubbah & I have just started playing and it seems really fun so far :) There are definitely a few dodgy people out there who haven't been entirely pleasant to play with, so I'd love to try it with a few more people I know :) We've only really been playing vs AI at the moment, but once we've played a bit more and have figured it out a bit more we'd like to start playing against other people as well :) So let us know if you'd like to add us and play a few games :)
