In-Game Credits

I was wondering, now that we all have a few ships and SC is doing well.

Would it be better just to buy in-game credits in stead of ships? As I understand it, we can buy the ships in game as long as we have credits. But there might be a cap on how much credits we could get per month. If one started to save now, one could have huge amounts of credits when the PU is released.
