Hello,

In the next few months I will be looking to buy/build a new gaming computer.
Now it has been quite a while since I have been up to date with all the hardware that is/was around.

So I am in need for some advise on what to get for a good gaming pc that will last for some years.
My budget will be between 700 - 900 Euros. The only thing that I already have is a 1000W psu.

Thanks in advance

I've been looking at a new rig as well, I know I need a new mb and proc, but I might get 1 made for me.

Here's a couple of links to get you started:

Do you just need internals (tower), or do you require peripherals (Monitor etc)?

This place is a good starting point (Select a bundle (Those bundles are compatibility tested), and try to find the parts from a distributor in Holland, or in Euros).  Keep in mind that you'll need 300 ish euros for a good AMD gpu, and some monies for a decent SSD + case.  Do not ignore the GPU, and CPU; if need be wait more and add to your budget.  Most of the games coming out are usually un-optimised, and most will be CPU bound.  Do not buy the Nvidia GTX970, due to stuttering issues caused by the split memory speeds.

Do not buy from the UK at the moment, the Sterling to Euro value is simply ridiculous.

Also tomshardware guide is a must for me when starting a new build.

Prices are obviously going to vary, and there's scope to choose different components based on your preferences, but this would be a perfectly capable gaming rig.

I will be looking to a new tower aswell but not a new monitor etc.
And everything will be bought at a computer wholesaler in the Netherlands it self, the things I wish to find it what parts fit well together and when combined will it hold out a few years with the heavy games.

It depends what "hold out" means for you.

Whats your resolution
What graphic settings do you aim to use
Desired FPS
What are your mainstay games

If you mostly play WoW and CS, then that budget will be fine.  If you want top notch graphics for heavy games coming out in 1-2 years time; then its quite the stretch.  And you're going to need a minimum of 3GB GPU memory, and that's being optimistic.

For example, I built my current rig August 2012, and it's still going strong whatever I throw at it.  But it has a GTX690 classified which at the time costed more than your entire budget.

I built my rig around 6 months ago and it's done me pretty well, i bet you could get it all for pretty cheap now or the newer parts for an equal price. The setup is:

Ballistix Elite BLE2CP4G3D1608DE1TX0CEU 8GB Kit (4GB x 2) 240-pin DIMM DDR3 PC3-12800 Memory Module
Intel Core i5 4690K 3.5GHz Socket 1150 6MB L3 Cache Retail Boxed Processor
XFX R9 280 3GB GDDR5 Dual DVI HDMI Mini DisplayPort PCI-E Graphics Card
Coolermaster GM-Series 550W Semi Modular 80+ Bronze Power Supply
Crucial 240GB M500 SATA 6Gbps 2.5 SSD
Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 3 Socket 1150 VGA DVI HDMI 8 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard
Cooler Master K-series K350 - Usb3.0 Atx Case Side Window Gaming Bundle
Seagate 2TB BARRACUDA 3.5" SATA-III Hard Drive - 7200RPM 64MB Cache
Zalman CNPS9900A-LED PWM Socket 1156 1366, 775, AM2+, 754, 939 Tunnel Flower Cooler

I got it all for around £650 at the time. I'm yet to find a game it can't run maxed out (although i'm sure there are some out there), I mostly play CS:GO and get a solid 275-300 fps with everything high.

I gave in to the need for not continuing to use a laptop as my main gaming rig and getting my 1440p ASUS monitor actually doing something. Cheaper in Euro from gamecomputers.nl than overclockers UK due to the exchange rate. If Chris Robert's game is still running like a dog after this thing tries to run it'll I'll be on a plane to the US to kick his little Anglo-Manc behind!
